The questions from the CD is actually taken from her 115Li book. When you play the CD, it will say \"115Li, page..., question 1..\". One way to help your girl with the CD, is to flip to the 115Li book, see what are the formula taught on that page and revise the formula with her first before she do the CD.
Yes, she's in once a week class.. and she hardly do more for her homework, other than the pages given by teacher. She is on 115Li and 216 and have been practicing using the CD (which is one of the most stressful work of CMA for her). According to her teacher, she is ok and can do the work herself during class too. Somehow, I feel that she does not really grasp the concept. Any recommendation to get improvement?
I was hoping that she could grasp the concept and apply accordingly on her school work and improve her mental sum...
She can do her work in class because the formula is given on the page. She need to move on to 114, 113 to train her to think by herself when to apply which formula. -

Yes, amazing.. Sometimes when I read the sums too fast, they can \"hold\" the image in their mind, ask me to repeat the last few numbers, continue their calculations and give me the correct answer. How does Abacus with CMA train visualization abilities?
From my own understanding and watching my kids at it:
It all begins with having the abacus right in front of you and learning how to use it. That's the basic. Subsequently, familiarity with the abacus develops into the ability to do mental arithmetic. Children can 'see' the abacus with their 'magic eye' (ability to visualize) and eventually being able to tackle math without using the abacus. Together with the ability to focus, they can 'hold' the image of the abacus in their mind and perform complex arithmetic - that's superb visualization ability!
It's amazing isn't it? It's something beyond academics!

Hi, wld like to share my experience on CMA. My son now k2 has been there for 2 yrs since he is 4yr o, im nt sure if his progressn is fast or juz normal? His mental arithmetic is at level 2 and abacus is at level 5 cos need to repeat the same bk few times unless u can pass the test based on certain timg. His aural mental (CD) is at 4dig 6Nos. Thought of pulling him out when he goes P1 next year due to time constraint, but he insist to cont. It really benefitd him alot, i could c his brain really get to exercise, i oredi lost track of the formula, need him to remind me. Realy din choose the wrong abacus centre.
abacus_trainer, if he finish grd 1 mental arithmetic, stil hv some more or have finishd the whole pgm, juz concentrate on abacus? -
I think I won't mind if my ds can reach that level by K2
Pokemon, Pokemon....
Why you need to stop if he wants to continue may I ask? -

It is really good that your son has the interest in it. My K2 girl just completed her 1.5 term. I have to always remind her to do her homework...think she is lack of motivation....Hi, wld like to share my experience on CMA. Anyone can advice how to motivate her? -
So glad that I join KS parents today, read the forum on CMA and can get 8% discounts. I plan to bring my 4 year old for the assessment next week. Actually, I want let the 6 year old join but not sure whether it will be too late cos he is going to P1 next year.
