      mummyo, ok, noted.

Went for the RGPS reg this morning and saw many PRs already there, probably within 1 km. Many Indians, a few ang mohs, even a Chinese couple.

So my guess is PRs going to make bulk of <1km reg.

There was 5 who are >2km also reg!!

              for those balloting at RGPS,

safer for parents to turn up.

last Friday P2B, a child's name was picked in the ballot. But because the Chinese name was very similar to that of another kid picked earlier, the slip of paper almost put back into the box!!!

luckily the mom alert cried out 'Stop!' in time, so all fine.
Mother's love is always the greatest. if she not present, nobody spot mistake. She would have received a call from the school saying she not successful in ballot.

try to sit in front - because you can see & hear clearer.
if sit at the back, a lot of distractions going on. People chit chat, moving around, whispering.

Hmm is this how they do when they see duplicate name? I thought the norm is that they wont put it back to the box. This is what happened in Kong Hwa. Those duplicate names slips are placed on the table and verifed by the teacher with his/her initial.

                    phtthp:
there are a few Methodist christian schools in SG, like:-

                    - MGS (Bukit Timah),
                    - Fairfield Methodist,
                    - Paya Lebar Methodist,
                    - Geylang Methodist,
                    - etc.

but why is it that in the eyes of parents - amongst all Methodist schools, seem like MGS (Bukit Timah) is deemed the best so far ? Sorry, no offence to other Methodist schools.

is it bec MGS (Bukit Timah) - the syllabus taught s different, teaching method different, teachers good or what ? what is it that sets it apart ? why couldn't the Methodist HQ ensure that same standard is maintained throughout all Methodist branches in SG ?
Found this in PLMGS forum, hope that explain why:-

the word \"Methodist\" doesn't link the two schools together as they have different heritage

MGS is founded by Miss Sophia Blackmore and supported by the Women’s Foreign Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church in America, Miss Blackmore, an Australian missionary.

PLMGS was started as a branch of the Anglo-Chinese School and wasknown then as Paya Lebar English School.Mrs Chew Hock Hin(wife of Rev Chew Hock Hin, lady seated in family potrait) became the Principal of the school. She remained in that capacity until she retired in 1957. She is regarded as the founder of the Paya Lebar MGS because she re-organised the school with the help of the American Crusade Fund.
