Whether you leave your photos in the computer or make them into a movie, remember Rule #1 – Backup, backup and backup! Imagine losing all your photos / videos when your computer goes down
Oh yes. I learn the hard way. Luckily I still keep all my sd cards, so now all the pictures are down loaded into external hard disk.

I post some pictures in FB to get connected to friends, colleague and relatives. Majority, I post and blog in Multiply. I had fun making movies out of the pictures too and post them in Multiply. Or those short videos taken on a holiday trip, oompile them together, insert appropriate songs and viola, for friends and us to enjoy.

Just a quick warning to those who store their pictures on CDRs. CDRs have a lifetime of around 10-15 years if they are properly stored. If you use the cheap CDRs and did not take good care of them, they will last no more than 1 year.

Oh, I did not know about the short life span of the CDRs. Just wondering which are the good ones, any experience to share? I backup everything on external hard drive, but burn the videos on the CDs so that we can watch it on DVD player.

I use memoriesontv for all my photos. So far this is the best software I tested. Microsoft moviemaker can still do the job but its too much work and effort if you try to use all those transition effects, panning, syncronise music and such.

My aunty housewife with basic computer knowledge also can use this and create some decent photo dvds with this software! Price is US$59.99. You can download and try out. Its fully functional except there will be a watermark display on every photo when you play it.

              Check it out here http://www.codejam.com/download.htm

Btw, I am not related to the website in anyway. I really think this is a cool software. And its actually develop in Singapore!

there are a number of different media players that, among other features, display slideshows of photo on TV. eg ACRyan PlayOn HD, priced at $249 without harddisk.
