Ibu@4:
Aargh!!! The thought of having to ballot for the sch that is just next to my flat makes me so stress.. :nailbite: Now hv to look for alternative sch that is within 2 km ....

Any views on the following schs:
Juying Pri
Xingnan Pri
Pioneer Pri
Corporation Pri
Boon Lay Garden Pri
Hi Ibu, you have 4 kids? 🙂

Did you go for Frontier or Shuqun or Rulang? Frontier hit the headlines today in the papers. Home section. The VP was interviewed. But we all know the news from KSP anyway.

From the above list of schools, I don't know all of them, will comment on those I know.

There's a lot to each school though. Just a brief note:

Juying and Corporation are single session schools. The rest are double session or partial single session. Both offer only Chinese and Malay as MT, no Tamil.

Juying is strong in chinese chess and robotics, if I am not wrong.

Corporation is strong in chinese chess and calligraphy, with some SYF medals in Chinese and Malay dance.

Xingnan and Corporation have the PAL programme. It is during curriculum time and the kids learn more about outdoor education, performing and aesthetic arts with their friends.

Xingnan has CCAs like the brass band and diabolo which have won awards. Their listed niche under MOE list is Chinese language and culture, ie their focus and emphasis in this area is very strong.

Xingnan just had their Open House, did you go? It was well organised.

Corporation does not have exams for P1 and P2. They have alternative modes of assessments. I believe this is slowly rolled out to all schools soon, same as for PAL and single session. CPS happens to be doing these first as it was a pilot school.

From what my friends say, each of these schools have their wonderful teachers. I don't think there is any school in Singapore that is really bad. So hope that wherever your child goes to, he/ she will be happy going to school, that's mot important. And it must be convenient for you to bring her to school too. 🙂

engp9337:
JWPS has 42 seats left. FPS will have 36 applicants withdrawing tomorrow and maybe ending up in JWPS. JWPS is likely to ballot too.

Why jwps has seats left still need to go thru balloting? I am lost I think . Are the registration for p2c done?

Not ended yet and tomorrow is the last day. As at end of day 2, JWPS has 42 seats left but 36 who stay > 1 km of FPS will withdraw from FPS and may end up in JWPS. FPS is confirmed balloting at within 1 km.
my interpretation is, so this 36 seats will join JWPS and some more will register JWPS at day 3, so end up balloting required for JWPS<=1km?

hi engp9337,
JWPS out for me. A plan B for me should be a safe one. Should not subject me to more balloting. So I'll go for Frontier, ballot, if fail then plan B kicks in for Phase2cs, which is CPS.

Till now, I still don't know much about JWPS. Not much sharing here on the forum and none that I know study there. Not even my immediate neighbors... so I rather go for schools I know more about. :)
I thought registration was over so i saw some forumer said there are still seats left for JWPS. So CPS will for sure have seats left after phase 2c? But the chance/ rate for Frontier should be 80%~90% right, still ok compared to west grove, and rulang, right?

@kabalevsky - like you, I was not expecting Froniter to be so \"hot\". I called up to check the stats, and confirm there is balleting for P2C for those within 1km.

:scared: seriously so many P1s in that area!! :faint:

I have just called west grove. They have 195 applied within 1 km. Frontier has 251 applied within 1 km. My goodness!!!!!

Amazing hor.. no wonder Frontier had to built otherwise really going to be tough for WG to absorb all 446 people :faint:
