I don't think there's a rule against someone who owns a HDB, rents a private property and uses the address of the private property. Is there? The rule is against him if he rents out his HDB property. Correct?
No, that's wrong. HDB is for owner occupation, not for renting out unless you are out of the country and need HDB's approval. The reason obviously cannot be for applying for primary 1 šŸ˜‚

I am emphasizing here that all cheaters should be caught! This is how NYPS suddenly have two more seats made available for Phase 2Cians. A good job done indeed which I think MOE or schools have to spend more effort in and if possible, introduce more severe penalty terms that can scare away all these cheaters including PRs.

I don't think the extra 2 seats was due to \"cheaters\", more because alumni found a more suitable school at phase 2C and decided to go for it instead.

Actually, HDB owners can rent out their flats, either whole flat or partially (ie renting out a couple of rooms) so long as they satisfy the eligibility conditions.

They can always falsely declare that my kid is staying w my so and so at thus address which owned by me. There are many ways out there for cheating parent to try. Unless MOE is willing to tighten their checks.

Agree that cheaters should not be allowed to perpetuate.

Then where come the sudden +2 in the originally 51 registrants? :?

                    Willow,
Did PH call you earlier? They called me and told me 57 applicants, but website states 58.

Same goes for NYPS and ACS prim, my friends told me 52 and 29 respectively, but website states 53 and 30. Umm, wonder where does the extra one comes from and why?

We live around toh yi...thinking of sending out kid to either Pei Hwa or BTPS next year. Have heard good things about BTPS. Lots of kids from overseas and also those who are not successful in getting into the hot schools around BT. My take is as long as the kid is smart it doesnt matter what primary school they go to. The real challenge is secondary school onwards. Lets face it most of us dont even remember our primary school education. Do you? cause i sure hell don't. šŸ™‚

                        huaywenandkenneth:
Hi someone was asking for comments from Bukit Timah Primary School parents again. So reposting this comment which got lost in the many anxious questions from parents applying in P2B and now P2C.

My boy is now in P1 - had the experience of P1 Registration same time last year... the school was my only choice as I didn't live within 1km to any of the hot schools and I didn't do PV or had connections. Initially I was also KS like all parents are, and wanting my son to get into a good school, but I guess at the end of the day sanity prevailed and I didn't even bother to apply to any of the hot bukit timah schools.

Generally I find Bukit Timah Primary School academically fine. My son and I like his school as it is small and cosy (even though he says it's big... yup, compared to kindergarten, of course). He is doing well and amongst the top 5 in his class - that was what his teacher shared the last time we met. He had also opportunities to be class monitor last term. This term he is teacher helper, chinese group leader and monitor for health education. The belief of the school is to give the children opportunities for them to develop and celebrate their efforts.

Recently P1 and P2 had chinese speech and drama performance in school - it's not the most perfect performance and there are 1 or 2 aspects they need to look into which I may feedback to the school, but I can see that the children (including the non-Chinese ones who took Chinese) generally do enjoy the experience. They also had FunDay cum Open House last Saturday and also Science Day today. So there are lots of interesting activities to engage the children.

BTW the Principal was formerly VP of Henry Park Primary School and top students in the school also have special programmes to stretch them to their fullest potential. In fact, many of them left to join the GEP programme, which was why the school was not part of the top performing schools every year. I am quite keen for my son to continue his education at Bukit Timah Primary even though his form teacher has said that he would most likely be able to qualify for GEP, as I have 2 other children (another boy and a girl), and 1 of them would need more help academically compared to his eldest brother - he would not be able to survive in a good school.

So if your child comes to Bukit Timah Primary School via P2C or even later phases, they would be in good hands.

As a parent, we want the best for our children. Competition shouldn't start so early for them, and they will pick up vibes from us if they sense that they are going to an \"unpopular\" school and won't enjoy their school life. P1 is just the start of their learning journey. Just my thoughts about P1 registration.
Thank you for this long post. It is very reassuring. However, I foresee it is a matter of time before balloting is required for BTPS too.
