My son was offered NUSH, HCI and RI. He chose the last sch for the following reasons:
1) NUSH - too focus on Maths/Science, no emphasis on sports/CCA, want to be exposed to other subjects in depth
2) HCI - chinese not his cup of tea, too focus on chinese languages activities, no contact with other races
3) RI - school spirit strong and multi racial community, good selection of sports/CCA, strong alumni
Most of his school and classmates chose HCI and only a small fraction go RI and NUSH. -
Fluffy:
Sounds EXACTLY like the case of my eldest son! Plus of course, his father and both grandfathers were rooting for RI as they were from there....something abt keeping the RI tradition. (Maybe they brainwashed him? )

I hv been checking the "My status" since last week. There is an extra "Step 10: Accepted offer to attend informal tea session" today. Seems like we would be hearing from the sch soon.

I guess that's for the platinum awardees and other shoo-ins.

Thanks for the info - I just checked, and yes, I've also got that extra Step 10. Hope that means it's good news!

I was telling hubby that I expect to hear from them on Fri late afternoon after the orals.Jennifer:

Whatever the result is, if it is released before the orals, would you tell the child? Esp. if it is bad news? I think I would break the news after the oral. -
kohjl:
Step 10 is in all the admission forms. It's only when you see a YES next to it that it's good news. From my understanding it's usually the Platinum awardees and other shoo-ins who get invited to the tea. The rest just look forward to seeing a YES in Step 9: Offered a place in NUS High. That's good enough!Jennifer:

But Step 10 was NEVER in the \"My Status\" page in the first place - it stopped at Step 9. Was only put in by NUSHS this afternoon. Since it was put AFTER Step 9 (\"Offered a place at NUS High Sch\") and it reads as \"ACCEPTED offer to attend informal tea session\", it would seem wierd to put it in the form if Step 9 is not a \"Yes\" wouldn't it? Anyway, that's just a very very hopeful way of reading it! [Cross fingers!]
Hmm...maybe shouldn't read too much into the sudden appearance of Step 10!
Did everyone get a Step 10 in their My Status page? -
kohjl:
Yes, Step 10's in my form too. I see the appearance of Step 10 as something they've added to all forms for them to fill in later with YES or NO. So you can have YES in Step 9, that is Offered a place in NUS High, but not invited to tea. I remember reading here somewhere that the Platinum awardees and other shoo-ins were invited to tea before the rest of the successful applicants were informed of their results. But Step 10 was NEVER in the \"My Status\" page in the first place - it stopped at Step 9. Anyway, Step 10's not important. Step 9's the one we want to see a YES in.
