According to singsat, there are about 51% of the children of age between 0-4 years in 2006. I have a hunch that there are more boys born in 2006 than other years. Does anyone have further breakdown?

I believe MOE will ask the schools to open more classes if the birth rate for that particular year is high right?

But that is provided there are already extra trained teachers on standby and enough extra classrooms in the school, right? :scratchhead:

school are cutting classes over the years so that they can have single session therefore though the no. apply may be the about the same but the chances of getting into the particular school decrease.

                  2006 - B 19750 vs G 18567
But looking at the past stats, similar to other years, no spike in boys in 2006 🤷
Boys for the past few years exceed girls by around >1k per year

eg my sons' sch, Catholic High, for many yrs, the intake is 7 classes of 30's, ie total 210 students per yr.

In July 2010, application for 2011 intake was so overwhelming that by phase 2A2, only left 18 vacancies ie 9 each for phase 2B & 2C!

So in July 2011, the sch increase 1 more class, so 30 more students can enter p1 in 2012.
