      Hi

I'm quoting his name as an example for Foreign talent. Not meant to complain. My apology if it does somehow disturb your feelings.
      Hi KS_me,

No offence intended here, I'm not even his fan..hee hee.

I have read somewhere that his kids are attending an international school. Maybe, his citizenship has something to do with the property he wanted to purchase (a good-class bungalow), among other reasons. Pure speculation, please don't sue me.

        Hi

Actually, I find the reply from that particular PR quite annoying.

I suggest that you take one more step forward, write to the Education Minister and your MP.

You may not get the answers you are looking for, but at the very least you let them know about the feelings at the heartlands.
I second that! It's just so annoying. :nunchuk:

My sympathy is with you, Penza. There are so many of such cases around, I'm sure. I really hope that you son would get into his school of choice at phase 2C supplement. :xedfingers: Hopefully this school is not far way, otherwise, our schools hours here start so early (another sore point!).

Why doesn't ST publish your letter? I can't see their logic. :x

Foreign talent obtained PR.... eventually become Singaporean and the origin Singaporean will compete with these new recruit Singaporean who is so much richer..

          ...erm..... how to compete??? :?

Use computer to sort IC & birth cert. Allocate to citizens first.

            Great!
I think I read somewhere too that his kid is attending American School. But I'm still very keen to know will the TOP school have a confirm seat for his child (maybe with a big sum being donated to the school) if he chose to :? :?

              Penza:
BTW I wrote ths to ST but it never got posted:

In her letter, Mrs Agawal have hit the gist of why PR students should not be given equal chance for Primary 1 registration. She says that if her children were unable to secure a place in a good public school, why would her family to stay? A Singpore citizen will never be able to say that. We are here to stay and as such deserve the right to choose before a permanent resident.

My son, a 4th generation Singaporean, was not able to secure a place in a school of our choice which is 30m from our home of 11 years. My son, like myself, will have to go through National Service to contribute to the country's defense and not just the economy. Even now, with phase 2C supplement, my son might not be able to get into his second school of choice.

This plays out not only for me but many others of my citizen friends who find themselves out of their school of choice due to the number of PRs enrolling. Take note that this intake happens to be the year when Singapore had the lowest number of babies.

I have many permanent residents as good friends but this touches on the rights of a Singapore citizen, and in no way belittling the grand contributions done for those who have come to work here.
cheer up bro.... I have also written countless times to ST without getting published. at this rate..... i can forsee wats the topics for next year rally liao....haha

Has MOE made any official reply to the forum?

Is there any way we can bring this up to MOE? I remembered a few years ago when they were debating maternity leave, PM quoted some motherhood forum...hehehe who knows our discussion here will have an impact 🙂

Hi Penza, like you I stayed just next to the school. I have the agony of seeing my child ballot out in phase 2C. It’s very frustrating to see those child with foreign names being balloted in.

I know that feeling. Its sooooooo frustrating. I live near a very popular school. I did not want to send our kid there cause, I came across a quite a number of PR's eyeing the same school. I back off. i did not want to go through the balloting. If piority is given to citizen's, the chances are they would have got into the school. I rather have my own country men having the place then others.
Just wondered, if there is war in singapore, who will be in the front line, our own children or ?????. Probably they will be booking their next flight home or calling their Embassy to get them home soonest. Just fed up :x

Hmm? The ST has never failed to publish anything I've posted to them so far... guess I've been lucky.

In summary, why is foreign talent = PRs and not citizens? Because there is no incentive for them to convert.

Incentives aside, I think it also boils down to the values system. I have a PR fren who converted to s’pore citizenship when his son was 9 yo. I respect this father a lot. He was away from S’pore most of the time on expat assignmts but he decides to let his son pursue his edn here cos like what the PRs have said ’ he wants the best for his child’. But he converted to SC! Why? He told me that he needs his son to understand the imptce of responsibility, that the son and his family needs to payback to Singapore by becoming a SC and serving in the army.

For those PRs who lacks such values, we’d really need to have distinct incentives for them to ’ enable’ them to tweak their values system.
