plus I make them pitch in for housework... I always tell them that since I have to help them with their schoolwork, it's only fair that they help me with my housework  so far so good.. I still get to rest and have movie dates with dh 😄
I like your outsourcing arrangement 🙂 Will see if I can learn from u.

        Hi parents,

Hope you can advise. Is the English exam paper structure for P1/P2 always the same? I referred to Y2009 SA1 & SA2 and found the P1 papers structure the same as such:

        Section A: Spelling
        Section B: Sound Discrimination
        Section 😄 Picture Matching
        Section 😧 Vocab MCQ
        Section E: Vacab Cloze
        Section F: Grammar MCQ
        Section G: Grammer Cloze
        Section H: Sentence Arrangement
        Section I: Comprehension MCQ
        Section J: Comprehension OE

Will like to use this as a guide to revise English with ds since there are no textbook to go through.

        TIA!
As at 2010 P2 SA2 paper, the test components are the same.

          php:

E3 just posted that moxie will be for all P2 classes unlike in previous yrs, but it's a toned down version of the real thing. No paragraphs, only sentences.

If i am not wrong, not all P2 classes doing moxie...only 深广班 have to do that.....during chinese period, kids will move to their respective classes for lesson....

markfch, one paragraph of 20+ to 40 words will be able to kill plenty of your brain cells while memorising....some words are quite difficult...

I was mistaken. The P2 this year are banded according to their CL results. Thus, like what php had mentioned, possibly, only the 深广班 classes will have moxie. However, I remembered, the first moxie for P2 this year was not as long as the one my dd's P2 first moxie. There might be same reorganising of the passages.

There is no exams for P1 this year so I wonder whether there'll still be CL banding.

markfch, you can get your ds to try memorize the 2 longer sentences in their term3 tingxie list as an intro to moxie.... we just implemented this for ds as he writes so slowly he cannot remembers what the teacher read for tingxie....

That's a good suggestion to prepare for moxie. Only trouble is, why torture ourselves prematurely, muahaha.

P4 spelling is quite crazy to me. the vocabulary they use is of adult standard, some of the words i even have to check dictionary. i remember coming across some of the words only in my upper sec. 😓
So that's how PH builds her reputation - via moxie & advance vocab.

Like what php said previously, the P1 short tests are quite simple and most likely half the cohort will end up getting 90% or more. Liddat how to band? However, there's been quite an emphasis on CL presentation so maybe that's where the differentiating factor will lie. Too bad my ds spoken chinese is nowhere near his reading skill.

[quote=\"php\"]Compare with P1, definitely more hw in P2, almost daily....

Hmm.. but if there isn't going to be streaming, I wonder how moxie will be implemented.. Is it 20+ to 40 words a week? once or twice weekly?

How about english? I know of schools which have started dictation for P1s? when is it implemented for PH? any other 'add-ons' for P2?

P2 spelling has 3 mystery words.

On the whole, the 默写 given is above the level. My son's 默写 is from 知识报.

Hmm… I guess the focus at PH is still the Chinese subject… I thought the ENglish spelling n hw are quite manageable at the moment.

They will still band. last yr more than 70% got at least 95 marks in P1 exams but they were still able to band.

Wow, more than 70% got 95 marks & above.

I gave ds yr 2010 PH P1 SA2 to do recently and he only got 88%. Does that make him bottom 30%? :gloomy: :nailbite: :faint:

Php, I think you see my ds too up oredi. Must calibrate your expectation a bit. Hehe.

bro... who's the one torturing himself prematurely? :scratchhead: I only got ds to memorize the last 2 sentences of his tingxie (anyway, teacher will still read it out in class first)... but you giving your ds P1 SA2 to do ALREADY?! :yikes: :scratchhead:
