double confirm the maid lied about her exp. Just asked her to boil an egg and she didn't know how to. How could she have cooked for 3 kids? :slapshead:
Isn't boiling an egg the most basic cooking skill? Maybe she's pretending she doesn't know so you can show her? -
Hi ChiefKiasu
From my experience, employed maid are just luck! Bottom-line their personality play a part.
I have 2 Php maids with 4 years of ex-SIN also with poor experience.
1st php maid age 36, no initiative but very fast in answering back, covering her ass. At her age, she doesn’t know that when you zip your pants you can stop the zip from unzipping. I got to teach her. She is like a robot, will only move when you ask her to do. I stay in a 4 rms flat. I have 2 kids, P1 & P3 but everyday she cant finish her chores. Every night, 8-9pm our clothing still hanging along the corridor, she has not kept them. She is a slow worker, she is the only maid cant finish her daily chores.
2nd php maid age 40, she can put 5 clothings in 1 hanger and doesn’t know what is neat and tidy. She will shelf the clothing or books to the shelf without arranging them by the sizes. I remainder her afew times, but seem like old self die hard. She is not a detail person. At time she will still answer back.
These 2 maids of mine do not have good comment of English.
I hate to talk to them whenever u ask tell them their works not done properly, they will say, “I cleaned already, I washed already, I checked already” ha! Does this sound familiar? If their work has done properly, than why shld I question them.
I had an indo maid b4, she steal and choked up our phone bill upto S$300.
I had a Php maid age 28, she was my best maid, went back because her dad was sick. She great affection toward my children and great initiative. That is the best maid I ever have.
Thereafter, all my maids are below PAR.
My hubby doesnt like to change maid, he find it is a chore to change them. -

I don't think she was pretending. I think she really didn't know. Or maybe they don't use pots to boil eggs over at her place? :scratchhead: Yeah, or maybe she just wants to see if I'm really a cooking idiot! Hahaha!

Dear all, need your views. My fresh maid from Indo has \"no result\" from the medical centre for her blood test, tested twice, so now they have to sent her to Changi hospital to detail test. I can choose to repatriate her back at agency cost or should i wait for the result from hospital? Any1 has encounter this before, my mum said sound scary as its blood related???
Can you ask the medical centre or changi hospital what they mean when they say there are no results? Do they mean the results are not conclusive? or there is a possibility that she may test positive for some of the tests? I don't think there's such a thing as no results, they may probably want to confirm the test results before committing themselves.
Maybe you can check what they mean before deciding? If they mean that she may test positive for some of the tests or may be pregnant, it's best to send her back cos the diseases covered by the tests are quite serious- T.B, syphillis, HIV etc.
Good luck! -
I renewed my maid contact in Mar 2011 and compensated her S$500 for not going back to Philippine for home leave. However, she now don’t want to work and want to leave in Sept. I May I know should I ask her to return me the home leave compensation in prorated?

I've had my smarty pants maid for close to 2 years now. Am now home as in-between jobs....so got more time to monitor.
Yesterday morning, I discovered that she bought a secondhand 3-G phone for a whopping SGD 250 (which is about PHP 7000 BTW), and has :slapshead: set up a FB account, with sexy pictures.
My gosh, I'm in such a shock! :scared: :yikes:
But rules are rules in my home. So the phone is confiscated for a week, and returned to her only in the evenings - where it's her time and she can text then. Then for the rest of her stay, she needs to put the phone outside in a known area (buying a special holder today) during the day.
Asked her if I had been texting throughout my day in the office, would the boss be happy....she said no. So same rules apply here coz we employed her! She can text, provided all her tasks are completed, and it is her own time.
This morning, she woke up half an hour later in spite of going to sleep one hour earlier last night. I give her the benefit of the doubt but I know she's been texting and possibly FB-ing about the $%^^)@!(# of an employer in me.
Ha, do I care? -

Just make sure she doesn't try to boil an egg in your microwave... with the shell on. :yikes:

Isn't the home leave expense for completion of contract? So the S$500 is in lieu of her air ticket home. That being the case, you shouldn't be asking for the money back. -

$500 seems alot; a budget ticket back to the Philippines is about $300 only. However, I believe the home leave/compensation was for the 2 years she has already completed, so she does not 'owe' you anything in that sense.
Guess if she's been good to you guys, I'd say just see the money given as a bonus. And be more careful next time. -
$500 home leave compensation is part of the agreement in her contract. But if compare to the money spend on her home leave (agency free for home leave application, air ticket and 2 weeks paid leave) i think it is still cheaper. I feel being cheated as I believe she planned to leave once she received the $500. I should have used the money to get a new maid replacement instead. Lucky that she is leaving only 6 months after her new contact, what if she want to leave one month after the new contract and I have paid her the $500???
So another question now is should I ask her to bear for her own air ticket for return to Philippine?
