my friend sw registered his son at phase 2b in a top catholic school, shock to find a mini lucky plaza there during balloting.after failure,he said that he can accept losing to fellow singaporean but not pr foreigner, who did not contribute anything except a baptism cert from their home country.

another friend kl, ballot at phase 2c, also found a prc town in bishan.kl fail to get a place for her daughter.the successful prcs pr rub salt at singaporean, predict boastfully their superiority over locals in academic performance.
see see, should we allow all these to carry on? let phase 1,2a/b/c be only for us singaporean!

        verykiasu2010:

if you live near to popular school in / near landed estate with narrow roads, then you would appreciate why.

many of the recalcitrant parents are plain horrendous in fetching their kids to school.....stop the car, get out of the car, open the door for the kid to get out of the car, close the door, open the car boot, take out school bag, walk the kid across the road, help put the school bag on the kid, do a farewell hug and kiss, and watch the kid walk into the school out of sight, then walk slowly back to car, start the engine, and move off slowly .....no amount of honking will get these recalcitrant parents to move faster ......meanwhile the tarffic back up to one km away --- it happens every morning along King's Road, Queen's Road & Coronation Road. PV as traffic warden is definitely a critical function - as critical as the principal
Yes I've experienced that (as I happened to be at that area once) and know how bad it is. :frustrated:

I strongly feel that there should be more differentiation between PR & Singaporean in the pri school registration system. Hope the new Minister of Education can look in this!

Many parents are so upset and dissappointed. My boy is a 2009 baby and already I am reading up and gathering information. What upsets me is to see this situtation of Singaporen fighting a primary school place with the PR. The 2 slips of ballot paper doesn’t really help much right?? PRs can come & go anytime but for Singaporean, this is our home and we cannot go to another home. The ridiculous thing is it is so easy to be a Singapore PR…

This is exactly my sediment. Singaporean MUST come first in all balloting regardless of which phase.

I as a Singaporean Mother, has never felt so dismay in my own nation in the last 3 years. I don't know where I belong. What an irony on how I feel in today's National Day.

National Day is a show with entertainment value only.

In the recent P2C balloting at Pei Hwa, all Singaporeans got through. There were 4 PRs.

The only value I can find is the fireworks 😉

Phtthp, thanks for this info. Will copy to the other thread on Opinions of primary registration. So, the current system has been around for 17 years. This is awfully too old & the available places for each schools were a lot more than the current stats. Interesting!

                        am i interpreting correctly ?

happened 17 years ago, from today 2011...

1994 was a year of roaring full house after 2A.
all vacancies fully snapped up by end of 2A.

Two schools closed registration at phase 2A, did not admit any more pupil under phase 2B.

both Nanyang and ACS (Barker) dealt the same fate.
