PG113 and 114 are refering to page 113 and 114 of this thread lah!!!! Anyway, to re-cap, the kids will be split to their classes on orientation day. That will be the class your child will be in Primary 1. They will each play some games to test their phonics, Maths and HYPY. Those who were identified to be weak in their area will come out with a form. This form will suggest the parent to put the child in an enrichment class conducted over the school holidays.wat is PG113 and 114?
By the way, one mummy whose kid in p1 this year told me Nan chiau chinese standard very high so i am kind of worried too. For HYPY, my DD childcare is doing a great job in teaching the Chinese and HYPY, but for HYPY not very worried. It is more of recognition of Chinese characters that are problems. Even though her childcare is doing a good job by teaching them HYPY and made them write chinese words until her chinese words from ugly to almost go for competition kind but somehow cos my girl seldom read chinese books and my girl can read very very very simple chinese books (think more suitable for toddler), still cant read slightly indepth books. I got her to read and have to ask her, u understand what they are talking about for almost every sentence, then she will start asking so what are they talking about? :faint:
i have to resort to teach her chinese words myself based on some chinese books from China.alamark now thinking if i really need to send her for enrichment class liao :skeptical:
On orientation day, other than buying school boys, your child's name tag will also be ready for collection. There will also be black school shoes and socks to be bought. School shoes need not get from school but u will need the school shoe laces. Per week, there will be 3 PE. So i'll suggest buying 3 sets of PE attire and 2 sets of school uniform (of course if u wash and iron daily, then can buy lesser).
Stationery wise - the usual pencils, ruler, eraser PLUS colour pencils, scissor and glue.
All the files need to be purchased including drawing block. All these will be submitted to teacher and kept.
1st week, school will cater food (need to pay to canteen vendor on orientation day) for recess and children will eat in class. Need not pack any books on 1st day, the teacher will inform which books to bring and submit to them to be kept in school.
2nd week, pri 2 buddy will bring the pri 1 kids to canteen to buy their food for a week. -

I need to add some corrections. My son in P1 this yr. I was told last yr there would be 3 PE lessons per week and I actually bought 3 sets of PE and 2 sets of uniform. But it turned out for my son's class (some others too), it's only 2 days of PE per week. So it's not always true that all classes will have 3 days of PE. But luckily, NCPS changes timetable every term (parents to note this too - this is actually quite irritating), and the PE was back to 3 days since Term 2. Cheers!

Err...I actually don't feel the chinese standard very high. I expected higher but maybe for P1, they need to take care of all students' level. I have taught my son to write and read many chinese chars since K1, on a weekly basis and emphasise a lot and strictly on correct strokes and the words must look nice and proportion. This may be I was influenced since young by my own father. Not sure good or not but I just hope chinese standard don't drop further as it's already very different compared to my times.wat is PG113 and 114?

There were times that PE was only twice a week??!!!! That never happened for DD. But term 1, i have to agree, the PE session was used for other activities. DD hardly get to \"run\" around for PE.

There are actually 3 PEs, 2 class and 1 mass right? So classess with 2 days of PE, there is 1 day with 2 PEs, 1 class and 1 mass, hence it's possible. So actually all the same, except they only wears PE attire for 2 days instead of 3.

Can't be. I thought it was posted here someone said for Phase 2B 1-2km, only 1 vacancy left and 13 or 14 children actually balloted for it. Wonder who's the only lucky one. -
ya i also wonder who is the lucky 1. Imagine out of 14 people balloting for that 1 place, he or she got it. must really go and buy toto.
Actually back to the standard, everyone keeps telling me very high standard, so my girl has a lot of catching up to do.
for uniforms, i think best to buy 3 sets and PE attires 3 sets. for shoes, i will buy one pair and buy the shoes laces , can go bata to buy but must check out bata price first -
For uniform, is it make to order?
