Luckily we ain't neighbours. Otherwise I'll send ds - with an empty plate - to knock on your door everytime the smell of roast pork whiffed into my home.

Regarding the issue on the smell of curry, I thought that as non-locals, the onus is for them to assimilate into our environment?

Btw, I'm defintely not anti-FT as I acknowledge that our economy cannot be strong w/o them. Just making a fair comment here.

I have no such problems of smell and sound with my neighbours because our places are connected far apart from each other. However, we have problem with our tree branches. The neighbour to the left is not a green lover. As such, they don’t plant trees and flowers in the garden. So whenever the branches of our rambutan trees cross over the fencing in the air by centimetre, they will pick that for a quarrel and demand us to remove the trees. As to the neighbours to the right and back, they are alright with the trees as they themselves planted them too. They will help to upkeep our trees and comes harvesting time, they help themselves to the fruits…To promote good neighbourliness, we decided to remove all the trees planted on the left side of the house…

But i must say, i miss having friendly neighbors who share food, watch out for each other etc. Nowadays if neighbor is a gd cook, can smell cannot eat

then for them to blend into us ........because we live for a long time
with a multi racial society , we know what tolerance is, many came
from a predominantly one race country.... so who need to learn

Please remember to ask your neighbours whether they will be at home before you cook your favourite dish - Curry....hahaha....

Rather intolerant. I didn't believe it when I read that the mediator told the Indian family to only cook curry when their Chinese neighbours weren't around.

My neighbour is from India too and they cook curries and burn incense (not sure what it is exactly) too. But in the name of neighbourliness, we live with it. I'm sure they find the sambal etc that our Chinese neighbours cook quite intolerable too. But it's all part of living at close quarters.
