Pastries:
As new members, on average expect to spend 5 evenings (weekdays & weekends) per month. More when it comes to Feb (Chinese New Yr events) and Aug (National Day events).
I would like to know the level of time commitment required for a RC member? Are there many meetings & events to attend? My concern is my husband has a very busy schedule and frequent overseas trip and we do not have alternative caregiver. I am worried if there are many meetings in the evening or weekend then I have problem taking care of my boy..
Normally old members will try to skip events or preparation works organised by RC or CC. So chairman will typically arrow new members and new members has to be on the ball and can't say no. -

Btw we will be moving to under Holland-Bukit Timah GRC in 2013 so maybe join as RC member if got enough time.
Beware of GE in 2015/2016 :xedfingers: -
Hi daddy2007,
Thanks for your reply!! 5 evenings per month is still acceptable, I can ask my mum to help out (she is old and I try not to trouble her too much). I thought it would be like 3 meetings per week kind of frequency, then I have big headache. Anyway, I just thought of my friend whose husband is a RC member in West Coast GRC too, (should have thought of it earlier), I shall ask her for more details!
Yes, I also thought of boundary being redraw in next GE. What I gathered from KSP forum is that for 2011, even the pri sch is under different GRC, but that does not apply for 2011 pri registration. So I hope this rule doesnβt change in next GE. PV is still the best way to go but must depends whether being selected or notβ¦ -

My DS1 is born in April 2009... How abt ur DS?Mummy of 3,
Yr DS1 is which month bb?
Under Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, also Clementi? Then should be Clementi Ave 4 right? I remembered during GE 2011, I was confused when we drive along Clementi Ave 4, it is under Holland-Bukit Timah GRC but the rest of Clementi is under West Coast GRC. If it is Clementi Ave 4, definitely nearer to NHPS! but NHPS under West Coast GRC wor.. then how??
For me, I have checked using one map service, there are total 4 pri schs within 1 km - NHPS, Clementi Pri, Pei Tong & Qifa Pri. Thus, my strategy is try to get a Phase 2b ballot chance in NHPS, if suay suay did not get in, then I will just go for Clementi Pri / Qifa pri under Phase 2C.
I will be moving to Segar Road (Bt Panjang) not Clementi. My DD1 just enrol in Qifa PS under P2C. Two years later will transfer her to Beacon or Bt Panjang PS if got vacancy. If not will go to West View or Zhenghua PS.
U should go and ask to become RC member now. As it takes 6 months to be observer then become EM. Then must be EM for at least 1 year. So arga around 2 years for preparation will be better. -

You wouldn't want to bet that this particular rule won't change when the time come

Maximum is 5 years and 4 years is still acceptable. You wouldn't know how is the situation in 2015 and the garment might decided to call for a GE if the situation is favourable to them

Hi, all.
just wonder can I apply PV in a RC which my house does not belong to? Say, I stay in GRC A (my IC address belongs to), but I want to apply PV in GRC B (my target school belongs to). -

Unfortunately you can't. Else you will see alot of people want to join RC in those GRC/SMC where the elite/popular schools reside

Since it is better for children to go to a school near their home, hence GRL serving at theie own GRC and registering into a school in the same GRC makes sense.
