All About Birthday Parties

This is the 1st time i’m organising a party for one of my girl. She is 7 this year. She and her elder sister (8 years old) have invited some friends (about 15) to the party. She has planned some games herself. I bought some gifts so whoever is the winner can have a gift. Now the crowd seems bigger…haha with our big families and some close friends, i have arranged a balloonist to be here to teach the kids how to do balloon scrupting and make balloons for younger kids.

I found someone who is able to do a party up according to the parents' budget! Would you all be interested? I think he's a new start up, so will be having some promotions too! I'm so excited for it.

Are there any requirements to rent the hdb multi purpose hall? Must be resident right? If non resident can we rent?


I love planning birthday parties too! Haha, I try to remind myself not to be too carried away… I love the idea of having a party planner but i think it will be a tad xpensive?!

How are baking parties like? Any feedback to share for the geniusrus?

Some feedback on party providers:

Polliwogs: I went to my god-daughter’s classmate’s birthday party at polliwog and it was good! They even had an invite card printed. Think that’s a good idea and good location at ECP. Cute and indoorsy.

Theme Skate Party by Skate With Us: This is kinda interesting and a good ideas if you are focused on the FUN element for your party and not just the food. Basically the skate school organise special theme skate party…u can choose invitations to be customised, Pirates, Superheroes etc…My sis in law had one skate party last month for her children and the theme was Superheroes. The skate school brought skates and costumes, face painting etc etc…and the kids had such a real good time! I don’t know what is it with kids and rollerblades?

My boys just went for a couple of birthday parties over the last two week-ends. One was at Kidz Amaze at SAFRA Jurong. DS1 thought it was great fun. I can see why. The playground has many levels and the boys had a great time running around.


The other party was at a condo function room. It was pretty simple. No theme. The father facilitated a game at the start, then the boys were entertained by a magician/balloon sculpturer. The boys had loads of fun. There were about 20 kids in the room and they were all enjoying themselves just chasing each other around with their balloon swords.

I’ve come to realize that kids (at least when they’re 7yo boys) don’t really need anything too fancy. They are happy enough just being allowed to play with each other. One or two items to entertain them is good enough. I’ve been to parties where there’s just too much going on, and the boys don’t enjoy it as much because their play keeps getting disrupted when they need to move on to a new activity.

DS1 has been asking for a birthday party. I’m taking lessons from all those parties he’s been attending!

planning my baby 1st birthday check many indoor playground so far shortlist polliwogs , only thing stopping my confirmation is they do not allow outside catering

wondering what do you all cater for adults ? ask them to order and u settle the bill?
