Hi Ladies,
I'm a DINOSAUR specimen fit for the museum but the champion of assessment books  ...so still have some hope. :rotflmao:
Told my hubby there is NO way I can ever go back to working...bcos I'm used to shopping off-peak hours :imcool: and have a good memory of prices at SUPERMARKETS. -

I agree....you are one of the champions of assessment books. Maybe should offer part-time 'Assessment Consultancy' services

Last night DS1 asked me why children needed to go to school everyday. I replied that it was so that they could learn stuff and play with friends. Then he told me that since Mummy is so clever and knows everything (which is what I often tell him when he tries to argue with me) instead of sending him to school, I could teach him at home and play with him!
:yikes: :faint: :siam:
So I changed my tune...and told him that he needs to go to school so that Mummy can have some rest!!!
Seriously, when DS1 was younger, I was considering homeschooling him. I'm not an educator, but I've got a good brain on my shoulders, and I didn't think I'd do worse than the teachers in school.
But now, after 3 kids, I realise that no way can I homeschool them. I do teach them at home, reinforcing what is done at school, but I look at how their preschool and primary school teachers teach them, and realise that there's so much more to teaching a child. Even if I were very very brilliant (which I am not), I don't think I could teach as well as some of my kids teachers. I just don't have the patience!
Also, it's true lah, I just need them out of the house sometimes!!! -

i told my dh too that he shouldn't expect me to go back to work when the kids grow up. expecting me to drop my career at my peak to care for the kids and when they are grown up, expect me to go back to work when my 'time at home is done', what he take me for huh? :spank:Hi Ladies,

there is so much more than academic learning when attending school. -
Hi Mummies of Club SAHM, I've just written an article in my blog specially dedicated to all of you here. Remember, no matter how some others may see us as insignificant SAHMs but in our children's eyes, we are their world. So give ourselves a pat on the back.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. -
My kids are still young so DH has not talked about me going back to work.
I met up with my fren last wk for lunch, she did ask me if I was going back to my trained profession. I told her nope.
I guess I would want to do some work when they are older, but I was thinking along the line like maybe help out in enrichment programs and stuff. The road is still long, will see how it goes. -

i thought of homeschooling before too. but i think it'll not be structured or disciplined. eg if i wanna come into KSP then how? homeschooling means hardly any free time cos after teaching, there's cooking and then cleaning the house.
ok jokes aside, i think at school, certain things cannot be replicated at home that well. like having a whole load of friends in class, in the school bus and at CCA.
that comes to CCA. even though kids can join some activities outside the home, i don't think it'll be the same as participating in large scale CCAs in school where you have fun and learn at the same time as your friends. then the highly subsidised overseas trips too... i can think of quite a lot that our local schools offer at such an affordable school fee amount... can't beat the value..
