My maid is free to eat anything except for my concentrated birdnest. She is auto so no problem with stealing food etc so far.

Hi tigger88,
My 1st maid is also an automatic maid. She is free to eat anything and she will ask before she eat. On her off-days she will also buy back curry puffs, fishball, carrot cake and such for us.
She will also not help herself to expensive food or can drinks until we tell her to.

She told me she has never eaten bird nest before and hate to eat durian. So I actually took a kick out of getting her to eat Cat Mountain durian (told her if she must eat durians, eat the BEST!) and also to try bird nest!

She was pretty shocked (and nervous?) when I give her a small bowl of home-cook birdnest. Said it is very very expensive mam & sir eat! I told her we cook enough and it is just a small bowl don't worry! Ate and said it smells eggy and like jelly. Heh, heh...

For durian, she tried courageously and then told me hmmm.....it is sweet and creamy, very nice! Now she don't mind eating durian if we buy. Told her for durian, don't bother eating unbranded ones especially if she don't really like. I have tried all types of durian since young. If you encounter watery, hard, sour ones...yucks!

Kee...hee....hee

You very good, to offer her homecooked birds nest. Just remember story about a maid whose first employer brought her for facials. When she changed employer, the maid 'hiam' that the new one never bring her.

Then again, after spending time with them, and if they are nice/good, this kind of thing don't 计较. happy working relationship is best.

LKVM, your maid allows you to keep her lugguage outside? where? I thought maids these days know their rights and would not allow us to keep their personal belongings.
Yes same..... i also let her pack in front of me and lock and keep outside...

Sorry dear if it wasnt clear... before she left for the airport I checked her bag and asked her to lock in front of me and keep the bag outside so that she dont anyhow put anything before leaving the house mah... she has separate maid's room!
Erm…what if they keep the money in their underpants? There is no way we can check thoroughly right?

Hi all esp for those who left the kid alone with maid, no supervision from mother/father/in-laws,

i’m quite new to have a maid, need some advice here.
do you give your maid house keys?
do you let your maid go out the house for a walk?
do you let your maid bring their friends into the house?
thx.

I think the word is "trust"

whether the maid has earned yours & your spouse’s trust
