I really have to teach her the spellings of scientific terms/ key words.

Hi! Plum-Cake, Nice to see you online again! :snuggles: :hugs:

Key words are important in Science as told by DD1's T too! She said never mind if the English sentence is not correct in answering OE question, impt is the key word must be spelled correctly! :hugs:

For Science OE questions, grammar is not really emphasized but those crucial key words...my son had spelling in P3 for words like 'evaporation, condensation, leaf blade/stalk'.
I just finished 'colouring' the topic on Plant Systems in FAQ with my pink highlighter :rotflmao: My son is going to protest.

        Janet! :salute: :salute: :celebrate:

You are a very dedicated & hardworking mummy to your children!

DD1's Science T still has yet to complete the syllabus for coming CA2 and I think she will rush thru the topics. So am doing my part to read up 1st and helps DD1 along the way. Hope I be able to manage ๐Ÿ˜‚

          Hey Champion,
You can and you will manage...I have confidence in you. In fact, you are a very hardworking mummy esp since you're working. It's not easy to be a FTWM and yet so focused on children's education after a long day in the office. :salute: CA2 may be important, but don't burn yourself out too early. There is SA2 which is the most impt exam for the whole year.

:thankyou: Janet for the encoragement! :hugs:

Yes, sometimes really tired in the night to go thru the revision with her but am trying my best. Yes, SA2 is 50% and the whole year syallbus! ๐Ÿ˜“ :faint:

So, tell DD2 - Mummy will be more stern with her in Term 4! Haha...

We need to encourage one another with such a tough education system going on now. Remember don't get burnt out ok ? It's a torture recovering. I've been through it when my son was in P3 or 4. It took me 2 weeks to cool down mentally. SA2 in son's school is 70%.

If you can, plan SA2 revision time-table...it's better to start early and have some extra time to have a breather.

                Hi Mummies,

I got my son to do a topic in โ€˜Learning Scienceโ€™ (upper block) by SAPโ€ฆdidnโ€™t quite like the answer given for some of the questions. For eg, there was a question on water droplets on an object taken out from the fridge & where the water came from.
There were no keywords provided in the answer sheet. Fortunately, I have FAQ to fall back on. So, do be careful when buying assessment books. Check up the answers provided b4 buying.

                      Hi Janet,
Finally got the time to sit down with DD1 to work on this assessment book~ :hi5:

I zoom in straight to the OE questions and leave the MCQ for her to do in the coming week. Cover up the answer and let her try to attempt the question. Manageable but still has to highlight & emphasize the bold keywords to her! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰

Am copying the answer to the questions and thereafter will make copy of the topics that will be tested for the coming CA2 for easier reading than for her to carry the whole book ๐Ÿ˜‚

:offtopic: coming week is a short one as Thurs & Fri school will be closed for P6s PSLE Oral Exam. Her Science T still has one small part of the topic not covered for the coming CA2 and I guess I will have to do my own notes making for her using the above + Ultimate Science Guide ๐Ÿ˜“

๐Ÿ™ :xedfingers: that she able to handle the CA2 paper well! :celebrate:

Personally I find the questions in assessment books not adequate. Exam papers are most satisfying for meโ€ฆ of cos when am in hardworking mode and in true KS spirit, I make my own topical set of questions from P6 papers. Last time I checked, Big Bookshop had similar compilation costing more than $50!

My personal fave assmt books are out of print- they are the 500+ series where there are mostly concept map based questions, according to topics. Phased out when the lower block and upper block themes were introduced. Popular has some skill-based booklets which dd uses with her Science Revision notes (Marshall Cavendish)
