      Hi Mummies,

I got my son to do a topic in ‘Learning Science’ (upper block) by SAP…didn’t quite like the answer given for some of the questions. For eg, there was a question on water droplets on an object taken out from the fridge & where the water came from.
There were no keywords provided in the answer sheet. Fortunately, I have FAQ to fall back on. So, do be careful when buying assessment books. Check up the answers provided b4 buying.

Yup...those are the ones. I still prefer Science Process Skills and New Syllabus Science by Helen Lee.

            Hi Janet,
Finally got the time to sit down with DD1 to work on this assessment book~ :hi5:

I zoom in straight to the OE questions and leave the MCQ for her to do in the coming week. Cover up the answer and let her try to attempt the question. Manageable but still has to highlight & emphasize the bold keywords to her! 😉 😉

Am copying the answer to the questions and thereafter will make copy of the topics that will be tested for the coming CA2 for easier reading than for her to carry the whole book 😂

:offtopic: coming week is a short one as Thurs & Fri school will be closed for P6s PSLE Oral Exam. Her Science T still has one small part of the topic not covered for the coming CA2 and I guess I will have to do my own notes making for her using the above + Ultimate Science Guide 😓

🙏 :xedfingers: that she able to handle the CA2 paper well! :celebrate:

Personally I find the questions in assessment books not adequate. Exam papers are most satisfying for me… of cos when am in hardworking mode and in true KS spirit, I make my own topical set of questions from P6 papers. Last time I checked, Big Bookshop had similar compilation costing more than $50!

My personal fave assmt books are out of print- they are the 500+ series where there are mostly concept map based questions, according to topics. Phased out when the lower block and upper block themes were introduced. Popular has some skill-based booklets which dd uses with her Science Revision notes (Marshall Cavendish)

Questions in exam papers are the true indication of what will be tested...if time is very tight, I'll just get my son to do 2 past year papers and copy the answers for the rest to be read.

I have several of those +500 series bought from Popular road shows...very cheap at just $2 a copy. Other than the solar system and simple machines, the other sections can still be used.

Janet, Can check with you - what is this +500 series? Exam papers? Do you find them useful?

                    :thankyou:

                      Champion,
Basically those assessment books are not classified under lower and upp block...so you can actually see 'diversity (p3)' and 'energy(p6)' in the same book for eg. These books were written by Janet Sim, Helen Lee, Renee Chong, Mabel Cheong and even Henry Lee...good for revision at P6.

I will keep a look out when DD1 is in P5 and when doing another round of buying Science Assessment Books for Upper Block.

Once again, :thankyou: :thankyou: ! :celebrate:
