can see that SCGS primary is trying hard to raise the level of Chinese now, trying to be on par with these two strong, powerful Chinese SAP schools, where they start HCL right from P1.

Well, it's like a 2nd-tier IP school unlike NYGH, which is not dual-track, so what do you expect??

Anyway, CHS was popular bc previously for affiliated, the score was only like 220+ while the non-affiliated score ~248. Now they are raising higher and higher every year for the affiliated boys, so it really gets less and less attractive for p1 entrants now and in future.

GEP centre so what? All GEP boys would go to RI/HCI/NUSH. It's the few rare mainstream boys who get high-score (eg. between 260-270) who apply to study in CHS sec. Very very very rare. Most with those scores go to RI/HCI.

PSLE COPs are determined by market forces, not by the school. If Cath High's current COP is 247 for non-affiliates it can't suddenly dictate that it wants its COP to be 260. Even RI's COP is not 260!

I agree. Cath High being a GEP centre has no bearing whatsoever on its IP track. The secondary school doesn't have a SBE programme. The top GEP boys would choose to go to RI/HCI.

most of them also heading for RGS /NYGH/NUSH, or prefer to remain in affliated St Nick Secondary ?

Cutoff point for a school is not set by the school. It depends on the number of vacancies and the profile of students applying to that school in that year.

Cutoff point for a school is not set by the school. It depends on the number of vacancies and the profile of students applying to that school in that year.

The affiliated score can be set by school though

Full schools have both primary and secondary sections as one single school. Since affiliation for alumni is based on the school, even if you only studied in the school during your secondary school days, your child will be eligible under Phase 2A.

Learnt something new. I don't see this on MOE website. Are parents, who studied in the sec section of the full schools, informed by the schools that they can get in via P2A?

MOE just says alumni of school. To check eligibity of alumni status, you call/email school concerned to confirm. Anyway, many old girls of St Nics Secondary alone have registered their little ones into St Nics' primary under Phase 2A so confirm can lah.
