Oh they have swimming every year? I thot it's only for P1s. Wow quite shy if the bigger girls all shower together eh?
Swimming is for 3 yrs /8 lessons. The governmnt realised that most kids cant swim n implemented this for all schools. Bigger kids? u mean higher primary kids, no they dont mix them, different days with different timing.// not much time to shower n shampoo sometimes unless ur fast. the bus have to leave on schedule,so normally kids are told to rinse n change quick. Just hope that yr grls swimming lesson will be last on the timetable next yr so she cn be dismissed for home aftr she gets back to school. 😎

They do quite a bit in P6. Supplementary classes after school ...4 days a week.[/quote

Hi Dharma, did yr grl attend supplementary class for any subj. when she was in P3. My grl just started this week for science.
        Hi moonee,

My girls got transferred to RGPS in P4 from Henry Park Primary. Not too sure abt supp classes earlier. Under the previous P, my guess is not many supp classes, though there may have been remedials.

4 days a week! Wow! That's a lot. Is this supplementary or remedial? I understand there's supplementary classes during Sep hols too.

4 day quite a killer actually. My daughter skips the MT supp but attends other three. Remedial lessons ... think 4 weaker ones. Current P quite on the ball. My #1 hardly had any supp classes and no holiday classes ever under previous P. Think the supp classes for maths touches on higher order stuff, 4 science ...its mainly adressing process skills. For GEP, these are part of their routine work... maybe no need 4 supp classes

I've not heard of supp classes during sep hols. Are u sure? Thought the week off will give them the much needed time for self study.
Hi Dharma,

That's what I heard. I could be wrong. I know some other schools are having supplementary classes during September holidays. Overkill, if you ask me. The girls need time to rest and recharge their energy levels.

btw, for the 6E/F girls who got into RGS, did they have special qualifications, like Platinum in Math Olympiad etc?

          Thanks.

Even if they have it, think it should left as optional. May be helpful for some who may be weak in certain topics/ still unsure of impt concepts.

Tks Dharma, I met up with my old school mate today n she mentioned that they do have supplementary classes but like u said not that much yet. As for remedial, nothing changes, my dd started since first month in p1.

I thought so too,I was informed end of Jan that her C/L was not good enuff, so i had to bring her twice a week in the morning. By the end of the year she took the exam for higher chinese n was selected. Not bad, I told myself....from remedial to higher chinese, πŸ˜„ Shortly after she reached P2, I was asked to bring her for remedial again. This time it was not for C/L but english. :!: The teacher looked at her p1 marks (she scored 93 for SA2)... told my grl that her marks did not justify remedial, she told me this was to enable her to score higher.(nice way of putting it) Seems like the teachers dnt just look at the marks alone but overall. I guess early remedials paid off after all. My girl now score highest for chinese n has maintained well for english.

Looks like present P quite ambitious and driven. Poor teachers. Previous one seldom stressed out the teachers. Stress usually passed on to parents.
