P1 stress- really depends on parentsโ, and to some extent teachersโ expectations. If you are always expecting perfect scores and no corrections at all, then sure torturous time for child and parent.
Social integration- my children were always getting birthday invites throughout the early years in primary school. Though I admit my dd took a longer time to gel with kakis than my ds.
Foundation- reading and number skills are essential headstart. Then just reinforce whatever is taught in school. NOT with assessment books but more hands-on activities and daily life application (supermarket shopping, reading directions etc) Assessment and exam papers should be minimal- IMHO -

think DDs have enough daily life application , they have no choice but to follow me all the time
hmm.... DDs do like their assessment books especially for maths...
the assessment boks which I bought includes daily life (I was surprised) , daily life play roles which we do together...
exam papers, - hands up guilty  , I asked DD1 to try a pre-primary revision paper for maths so that I could know what her weaknesses was .
no marks is written at the top as my main aim was to show her how MCQ works and which topics need my help to guide her.. -
Kissgurami:
Yup, exam papers should be to introduce and get familiar with assessment format BUT not for learning per se.

Tap on this early interest in assessment books (cos its not guaranteed to continue as they grow older :xedfingers: ) make it part of regular routine and it becomes a good habit in upper primary. -

learning from exam papers.... :scratchhead: , thought it is more for revision?

actually I learn from the exam papers to know the standard coz was clueless at first what's the benchmark for p1..
:rotflmao: I am using myself as a guide so I know for a fact that assessment books will hit a plateau ard P4 or P5. that is where other avenues of learning steps in , like science social club or external science programmes, the interest is much better sustained -
