I don't want any child initially as I am worry I'm incompetent when it comes to raising children. A year into our marriage, DH felt that life is not complete without kid and he promised to help take care of the BB. So we have one and 4 years later I wanted another (preferably a girl) but my DH said it's too tiring to start all over again with the night feeding, etc and not to mention the cost and time needed to nurture the child.

So that's why I only have one kid and now I'm too old to have another. 😢
So glad that you know how many children you want and go for it. Don't be like me - so indecisive until can only have one and regretted.

Hi flowermonaster, Same situation as u initially. Also very indecisive of whether to hv another one when my dd1 was 3 yrs old. Imagine relentlessly day n night feeding and nobody is there to help me.... Asking myself whether i am ready to go thru such routine again. This issue dragged till last yr n finally made up my mind to go for a second child when I was nearly 40yrs old. My dd2 is now 8 1/2 mth.

          Hi Ectanz,

Wow! Really happy for you! How I wish I had the courage like you when I was in my mid 30's, not to mention it now when I am in my early 40's going mid 40's. 😓

Sometimes I do worry if having one child will put too much strain on him when we grow old. Of course we will try to prepare for our old age financially but emotionally he has no siblings to share. I am also worry no girl will want to marry him since he is the only child. Think a lot of girls are cautious about marrying the only son. My DH always said I think too much! :gloomy:

                I’ve 3 kids. P4 Girl, P3 Boy and K2 Girl.

It’s stressful having 3 especially for school going kids… Need to have the time to coach them, in addition must have the resources too, etc… no joke.

Sometimes I envy friends who only have 1 and can dedicate all their resources to 1. I am the only child so I personally feel that it is alright to have as I never felt lonely.

On the other hand, I think 2 (1B 1G) is just nice.

Never planned for the 3rd but she came along. However she is very different from my 2 eldest child. So she is like a bundle of joy for us. So probably it was great to have her after all.

Sometimes, it’s nice to see the 2 girls share a close relationship. The boy would also play with them and he share common topic with my eldest as they are in the same CCA.

For me, I am now in my mid 30’s. Shop is definitely close. I have some friends whose 1st child are only coming to 1 yr old. It seems like having a baby is long long time ago for me and I suddenly felt so old.

                  I have 2 kids. DD (P2) and DS (K2).

We have always wanted 3 if possible even 4 kids. But I guess it is not meant to be. Having conceived 2 kids without any problems, it never did occured to us that we will not be able to have another kid. At one point DH and I were considering getting medical intervention so that we can have a 3rd kid but in the end, we decided to let nature be. If, be it nature or god or fate or whatever you may want to call it decreed that we can only have two kids, so be it. We shall learn to be content and count our blessings.

There will be times when I suffer pangs of doubt, like whether we should have tried harder for a 3rd kid. And there were times when I simply wish so much to hold a baby, my baby, again. Even till now whenever my menses are late, I still hope so much that it will be a surprise pregnancy.

I had always wanted three or four. After the first one, however, DH was not sure we should have more coz of the extra demands. But after some discussion, we went ahead with the second three years later, and realised that it wasn’t as hard as we thought it would be. So we had our third (another three years later).

But don’t think we’ll have no. 4. Getting a bit old and pregnancy will get risker.
