My friend DS who is from mainstream and applied under maths domain, but rejected by RI also. I know the boy is a very capable kid who is one of the top students in a SAP school in west area. He got high distinction 2011 UNSW science. won distinction in RI Math, Platinum in SMOPS, Gold (one of top 30th) in NMOS, Gold ACS Math Olympics. Distinction for ABRSM piano Grade 8,school prefect, completed 2-year MOE TTLT program……. Unable to figure out WHY being rejected.

because he is only at the top of his cohort, not beyond his peers, he could enter RI using his t-score

what RI is looking for at DSA is candidates with talent beyond their peers....

just an indication of what they do in sec one math : choose your favourite mathematician and his theory and make a presentation on what it is all about, together with all the proofs and power point slides...make sure your class understand you

They did that in Year 1 at RGS too.
Hi jtoh,
Is this maths presentation a generic project for all Year 1 at RGS? Or it is just for the GEP classes? Tks.

He was only one from his primary school to enter the IB program. He took maybe 3-6 months to fit in, including adjusting to the rigors of sec 1. 🙂

Glad to hear he is feeling at home there. I hope he does well and when the time comes, get 45 points !! :imcool: :imcool:

Congrats to all who hear from ACSI.

I rec'd phone call to attend the principal talk this Friday too. Did not expect to get this as I thought most of their slots will be given to he ACSP and ACSJ boys.

DS likes the IB program but I cannot imagine having to cope w 2 CCAs in the midst of such heavy workload.

Any parents has any feedback on this?
                    :congrats: Paddy Field!
What R the 2 CCA your Boy is Active in?

He is in the Sc club n swim team. He also has water polo training outside. But no uniform cca experience.

I m not sure what he wants - he's like pro HCI but no news yet.

If it's me, I also dunno which to choose.
