Yeah I suppose I am slightly after vk2010's time but should't be too far....anyway I found out my school is one of the SAP school now.
But dorisp, your time there wasn't any thru-train to pre-u either right? Must be before your time bec CayennePepper says it was during her parents' time. Which leads us to conclude that vk2010 is more senior than us. :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

vk2010 is definitely more ancient than us, or maybe my parents are exceptionally young
Cannot say anymore about this, dorisp wants to :pokeeye: me already wor...
Okie.. About SAP schools... for SAP secondary schools, do all the students have to take up HCL? Or can they choose like the primary schools?
Yes, HCL is compulsory at SAP secondary schools. But under exceptional cases you are allowed to drop HCL to CL I believe. -
dorisp:
So you're sending your children there?

HCL if the pupils can't meet the criteria by end of sec 2......
then will be ONLY CL all the way till year 5 and year 6...... -

happy mama,
for CL, you have the oral, picture compo etc, it builds foundation for HCLHappy Mama:
Vk, so no need to spend extra time revising? As long as your preparing for HCL, it's as good as preparing for CL?
By the way, how different is HCL from CL at the PSLE level, other than the fact that they need to do 3 killer Comprehension passages?
for HCL, most compre questions have no chance of direct lifting of answers from the passages, it trains to child to comprehend the passage with an overall view and articulate the answers by self-expression instead of just copying
for PSLE CL / HCL, there are key words the child is expected to know and is within the text
for HCL, no oral and listening comprehension components,
and the compo writing will only be either å½é¢ä½ę or continuous essay, no picture compo as an option.
moreover, the marking of the compo is also more stingent as compared to normal CL.
yes, the comprehension Qs will likely be inferential Qs and self-expressed of opinions or suggestions,
so the pupils' vocab need to be strong to gain good marks for it.
also, for HCL lessons (as for most schools) need to stay back 1 day in the week (sometimes 2 days when nearer to exams).
at the end of P5, if the pupils' HCL marks do not meet the criteria of the school,
will be asked to drop HCL, though sometimes, can \"bargain\" with the school.
