Before the \"senior\" parents here think who this person is, anyhow gatecrash this thread, I better introduce myself first - My DS is in P2 in Pei Hwa this year, and my DD will be going to P1 next year...

My guess is.. somewhere near Perth, Western Australia (WA), Australia..

How I arrived at this answer:-
1. \"spring has begun\" - When IJJ arrives, it will be springtime. Countries in the Northern Hemisphere will be having autumn soon.

2. \"prairies of gold...\" - perhaps refers to the wheat (yellow colour??) farms in the countryside in WA.

3. \"rivers flow...\" perhaps refers to the famous Swan River (@Markfch: this river quite famous in Aust you know ), which flows through Perth and other parts of WA.

4. \"winds of change...\" - perhaps the many wind turbines on the wind farms in WA??

5. The picture - I don't know why, but it just reminds me of the Swan River

So, my answer - State: Western Australia, Country: Australia

Oh no, please don't replace it with 'v', it is still ü as how we've always learnt it. Here's the explanation from wiki:

Many fonts or output methods do not support a trema for ü or cannot place tone marks on top of ü. Likewise, using ü in input methods is difficult because it is not present as a simple key on many keyboard layouts. For these reasons v is sometimes used instead by convention. For example, it is common for cellphones to use v instead of ü. Additionally, some stores in China use v instead of ü in the transliteration of their names. Occasionally, uu (double u), u: (u followed by a colon) or U (capital u) is used in its place.

So it's a technical thing.

Aiyo..maths T called me today, said DS did not do his homework..quite a number of pages in the maths activity book...she told me that when she tried to go thru the subtraction (double digits) with him, he just went blank...so she asked me if i've been too busy at work lately..bcos she noted DS has deteriorated in his digilence in maths.... :faint:

Came home earlier today, made DS finish all the (overdue) maths pages...
asked him why he did not say there was homework , (usu on daily basis, we will usually ask him abt his homework and we did not hear abt this piece at all) he said that bcos it was too difficult (so difficult = no need to do?)... :slapshead:
and guess what...there was no TV for tonite and when i sat with him, he could do it...!!!!...so it is not he don't know, he just did not put his heart into it :frustrated:
Hv prepared 8 A4 pages of similar questions and going to make him do for the next 2 days....and monitored by Ah-ma...
I used to hear abt PH teachers calling parents when they see lag in students...finally i can understand what this means...maths T really sounded so urgent and serious......and made me so pai seh...BUT I like lah........good to hv proactive teachers
By the way..how do u guys prep your kids to \"confront\" difficult questions rather than avoid them? I see underlying issues in this case with DS.... :?:
