Can I ask is P1 stressful for the kids ? With no exams , how is SA like ? Do they still have to study like an exam ?

More stressful for me than my DD! πŸ˜‚

She only feels the stress after she has sat for the papers especially Maths...the papers have higher order questions, heuristics and even questions thrown in with terminology which have not been taught yet..

And yes, they still have their CA1, SA1 and SA2. Opps, sorry the CA1 and SA1 are called something else (I mentioned it in one of my earlier posts)but same thing in disguise la  There is weekly ting xie and spelling/dictation. But these are all similar to the other schools.

Am I scaring you enough yet? but still my DD loves her school coz of her teachers, her friends and the other programs.. πŸ˜‚

We parents just have to manage our expectation especially if you are like me - unwilling to send to loads of enrichments (she only attends Berries), not teaching ahead and have a very playful child.. :boogie:

After day work, then bring them home from school, finish up showering, dinner and short playtime then start homework/revision time lor..bo pian...nowadays, alot of parental involvement unlike during our dinosaur times.. 🀷

Actually, I think the same goes to many other schools.. no? πŸ˜‰

While I was waiting for dd, I met Mr Chan just outside the school. He returned to school for some matters. I didn't probe much on his departure. He was not involved in PSLE 2011 oral. I met Ms Chia KS too. She was the time-keeper for PSLE 2011 EL oral. She is still as friendly and cheerful. I teased her that she has been in p1 for so many years. She laughed and said, next year would still be in p1 πŸ˜„

              RRMummy,
Maybe you'll feel more stress when your DD is in P2, cos their results will determine if she gets into the top 3 classes. Last year, I just told my son to do his best, it doesn't matter which class you go to. For this year (p3- SA1), I took half day leave before each paper to go through revision with him. So far, I also managed to send him to Math tuition only, cos I think the school pumps them with alot of revision papers. I think at this stage, his well-being comes first before anymore enrichment classes. πŸ™‚

                Hi silverhorse,

                :hi5:

More stress? :dowan: I'm about to go bold soon... πŸ˜“

The stress for me comes from screening what little revision we can slot in the very limited time we have since I'm a FTWM. But that said, l am more keen to ensure that she is coping and behaving well and enjoying school. πŸ˜‰ Whether she gets into best 3 classes will have to take the next queue number. More importantly, I want to ensure that she will not detest going to school or be demoralized in which ever class she ends up in.. πŸ™

Taking half days each paper.. okay..I'll keep that in mind.. thanks! πŸ˜„

                  RR Mummy,
That is exactly my sentiment! Schooling Must Be Impressed As An Interesting Journey......otherwise we can forget about talking/reminding our children on Achievement .
