What are the factors for good result (pri level)?
-
jedamum ,
i guess KSP means for a typical child
But then again there are just one type of children, liked the thinking out aloud of your opinion…
And agree with your point
"easy to list factors, but which contributes more depends on situation if your end result is concerned about how to do well in school." -
@jedamum
After reading your long summary, it points back to the quality/type of the child himself/herself.
So the child is the important factor.
Smart kids are smart kids, do nothing, they will still do well themselves.
On the other, the not smart and the lazy, whatever you do, even you get heart attack, vomit blood or high blood pressure until blood burst from your head, you will still feel so helpless even you invest full time on them. -
but there r some enrichment classes that will be #1 coz they produce exam-smart kids.

It appears that many think the child is the most impt and school is ranked 3rd or 4th. Then why all the mad rush to enroll in \"branded\" primary school? :?

hmm, good question! Those who rush for branded schools will most likely rank the School as #1? -

Well said. There is still hope if we can find ways to help and motivate the child. Tuition does help if a child \"guai guai\" study with the tutor's schedule to improve on his grades even though he has been disadvantaged before. I've tutored many children who really \"guai guai\" work hard and improved in their grades and are doing very well in life now. However, I've also other children who no matter how hard you try, can't be bothered. This group may realise when they grow up or in Chinese we call \"Kai Qiao\". If your child has U potential when he's young doesn't mean he'll go U. Similiarly, if your child doesn't do well, don't be disheartened cos they may make it in the end. I've students who failed their exams in lower primary but are now in JC and U. I've also heard about students who did very well in primary schools but couldn't make it to U cos of many factors such as BGR and dropped out from elite school.@jedamum

Fully agree :hi5:I would say:
#1 - Child. A child that's self-motivated, drive and natural intelligence will go a long way.
#2 - Family. The support from the family, a conducive home environment...
#3 - School. To teach all that's necessary in the syllabus.
#4 - Enrichment. For those who need it. -
KSP:
Interesting topic.i would rank the factors as follows.....
1st. The child - i believe if a star is bright no matter where it is, it will shine.....
2nd. The family background, environment, parents and sbilings.
3rd. The school environment, teachers and students.
4th. The enrichment classes - this will depend on how deep the parents' pocket is and how much the child can absorb from the lessons....
i believe there are more factors than these 4..... please share your comments and opinions......
A lot of replies rank the \"child\" as #1. I agree. Some food for thoughts. How did the child become who he is today? IMHO, those factors are the most important. Once the child becomes self-motivated, happy, secured, ... he/she can achieve alot (not just good results) with the right support from family, teachers, ... -
From my daughter’s own words, the factors are:
1) Sleep well
2) Pay attention in class
3) Complete all school and homework on time.

Some thinks that this is a package. Eg. school must be \"decent\" = branded\" so that the \"basic\" requirement of a good environment is met. Then the next question is can the child make it or not given the good environment. So with this, I think child is still no. 1 as in a good school, you still have kids who will not do well in PSLE. Is the school not good? No, but rather it's their own desire, family environment,etc... not all child are build the same way. Some are smarter than the others.
