        drickymummy:

How much the fee now? Yours in which grade again?

It's $985 per term for Pri 3. Many PH kids are there too. πŸ˜‰

Wow! That's almost $100 per lesson! No wonder they can pay fresh grads working there monthly salary of $3,500 ....

Is it really that good to pay that kind of $? Almost 4 times more than the usual ones.

Is there any difference in quality between the one in United Square vs the Mountbatten Square? Is the latter packed too, aka with waiting list?

          E3:
As adults, we also make careless mistakes. There is no hard-and-fast rule to solve this problem. However, certain steps to avoid or make less careless mistakes can be put in place.

          1) First the attitude must be on-check, the child's attitude towards learning and acquisition of knowledge should be a sound and valid one.

          2) Note the physical aspect of the child, whether the child is bushy-tailed and bright-eyed or dragging his tail after a long day at school while doing the work. No point working on anything if the child is washed-out.

          3) If the right attitude is in place, then comes the aptitude, whether the child learns and absorbs new concepts fast enough. Most kids can understand if the right method of teaching is applied, but not all kids can retain the knowledge long enough for them to work on the assignment. Every child has his own learning style and has to be taught differently. In our system, we rely on one teacher's style for 30-40 kids so that's actually not very good for some kids. Therefore, it's up to the parents to discover what's best. Following the teacher's method might not always be the best for the kid.

          4) Next, once the child's knowledge is acquired, application of the knowledge must be consistent. Only from this, then we can reinforce quality learning and ensure productivity.

          5) If the child is 100% clear with the concepts, start working on the speed of work. Working speedily builds resilience and competitiveness. This doesn't mean slipshod, get-it-over-and-done-with (again, boils down to attitude) work so can quickly play with iPad or computer.

          6) Therefore, give the right attention to each qn, moving on to the next only after you are satisfied with the ans. Spending the right amount of time for each qn is also a skill. No point wasting time on qns that the child really doesn't know, spend time working on those that he knows in order to give quality ans and secure the marks.

          7) If the child can complete an assigned work with speed and quality answers, then there will be ample remaining time (say, during exams) to check his work.

😎 Checking requires skills too, it means to work on each qn as if you are seeing it for the first time, check all the side-workings (for Math), important punctuations, grammar rules (for Eng).

          9) Lastly, the child shouldn't be expecting a reward after accomplishing an assigned task. He should enjoy the process of learning and see it as an opportunity to develop his knowledge bank. So, don't hang the carrot too soon. Reward can come after a more significant achievement so the child can relate it to diligence and take ownership of his learning and achievement.

          10) Lastly, Work hard, Play hard. If the child has a routine of \"working hard\" days and \"playing hard\" days, then the \"working hard\" days will be easier to maintain and sustain.

          Ok, my 2-cents. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

DD enjoys their lessons very much and for Science, we like their notes.

I believe both United Square and Mountbatten have equally good teachers but United Square definitely has a longer waiting list that Mountbatten... maybe because of its location? Parents can relax in cafes or indulge in retail therapy while waiting for kids thus time passes more quickly as opposed to Mountbatten where we still have to drive out for a drink. πŸ˜‰

I think it's more like around $60 per lesson; which is 50% more expensive than average. Though my ds is not in TLL, I must say that their roll of honour impresses me greatly.

Actually it also depends on the parents' expectation.

If can bring ourselves to aim slightly lower, will definitely be less stressful for all.

Same for my DS. Pt 1 - half mark cos fail for Chinese, pass for Science, English and Maths ok ok only. Pt2 - Pt 9 all fail. However, Pt 10 will be half mark cos he can definitely PLAY HARD.

I was also wondering if the person Mrsbongz saw was me! I use HTC phone, so that's the diff from JRLam. Since the 3 of us stay in cck, we might have been the sardines packed in the same can (ie train) before. Like what JRLam says, why not post a msg next time u see someone surfing PH page again & see if anyone responds?
Otherwise I've an idea, you can say a password eg bongz, & if that person is me, I'd acknowledge with another 'bongz', & viola! We met each other! Keke πŸ˜‚
