          Thank you tankee.

          Let us enjoy harmony here and share happy news or ask for advice for problems from each other.

          No school is perfect or being the best.

          Each kid will develop well in whichever school that suits him/her most.

          We just need to let other parents know what is going on in the school and what kind of achievements the school obtain.

          If notice carefully, parents of this link DO NOT usually want to compare this school with other schools.

          We would like to share to all what this school can do and is progressing very positively forward and towards the goal of which MOE initially wanted this school to achieve.

            Interestingly I came across this blog by a NUS medical student who graduated from NUS High School. He writes well and his thoughts are also very mature. The URL of his blog reflects the extended time he has been spending at St Luke's Hospital. Give it a read if you have time. 😄

              at the end of 6 yrs after receiving a Diploma - can an NUSH child choose to pursue an NTU degree course, instead of an NUS degree, since NUSH is affliated to NUS ? (example: study NTU engineering degree)

              if Yes, is this route to pursue the NTU degree automatic, or still got to re-apply all over again, by competing with the rest of A level candidates pouring out from the Junior colleges ?

                assume that your son receive offer from both RI and NUSH …

                for parents whose son receive CO from both RI and NUSH - are there any distinct advantage(es) that you see in sending your son to NUSH over RI, apart from getting Diploma vs. A level cert ?

                  hi phtthp, yes the NUSH graduate can choose to pursue an NTU degree using the NUSH diploma. You can see from the link below, the number (out of the 1st batch of 88 students) admitted to NUS, NTU and SMU:
                  http://www.highsch.nus.edu.sg/userfiles/file/Achievements/Uni%20Offers.pdf

                  From the chart, you can see that more NUSH students had applied to NUS rather than NTU and SMU (note that some of these students may end up pursuing an overseas education though they are accepted by the local universities). I think it is natural that more opted for NUS over the other local universities - many NUSH students are taking NUS modules while they are in junior-high (Year 3-4) or senior-high (Year 5-6), there is no limit to the number of NUS modules they can take provided they are recommended by the teachers or HOD. If they so decide to pursue a local university education, by being in NUS they are able to proceed to higher-level modules immediately (having taken the lower-level modules while in NUSH), thus they would be able to complete their first degree or double degrees within a shorter time. There is no such advantage if they choose to go NTU or SMU.

                  For your 2nd question, even NUSH students have to compete with other 'A' levels or IB students to apply to NUS. It is not an automatic progression from NUSH to NUS, though I have no doubt majority of NUSH students (should be close to 100%) would be able to make it to NUS. So no, there is no \"automatic route\" to NUS or NTU or other universities.

                    these days both HCI & RI also award their own Hwa Chong diploma and Raffles diploma in addition to the A level certs....

                      @phtthp:

                      NUS High School graduates must submit formal applications to all universities, including local universities, but NUS in particular (do not have information for the others to hand) has an early cycle for NUS High applicants in December before A-level results are released.

                        why no direct admission for NUSH students into NUS ? after all NUSH is affiliated to NUS; isn’t it unfair ?
