      phtthp:
      assume that your son receive offer from both RI and NUSH ...

      for parents whose son receive CO from both RI and NUSH - are there any distinct advantage(es) that you see in sending your son to NUSH over RI, apart from getting Diploma vs. A level cert ?
      these days both HCI & RI also award their own Hwa Chong diploma and Raffles diploma in addition to the A level certs....

        @phtthp:

        NUS High School graduates must submit formal applications to all universities, including local universities, but NUS in particular (do not have information for the others to hand) has an early cycle for NUS High applicants in December before A-level results are released.

          why no direct admission for NUSH students into NUS ? after all NUSH is affiliated to NUS; isn’t it unfair ?

            that’s what i thought too … direct entry from NUSH into NUS, provided the Diploma grades of the child has met the minimum target entry requirements.

            of course if don’t meet then no need to say lah!

            but if chld manage to meet the minimum number of distinction grades + pass the panel of interviewers (for admission into certain faculty like dentistry, medicine, law faculty) , then shouldn’t NUS give priority to NUSH graduates first, then those candidates from RI / HCI, plus other junior colleges pouring out at that time?

            otherwise, what is the meaning when you say NUSH is affliated to NUS ! how - in what way is it being affliated ?

              IF there is direct admission to NUS, then it will not be fair to the rest of the students who are not from NUSH.

                We have access to a large number of NUS research projects and undergraduate courses.

                  Did any kids drop out of NUSH? I heard from my son’s classmate that a kid dropped out of NUSH for whatever reason.

                    both NUSH and SST emphasise on Maths and Science.

                    a) what then is the difference in curriculum covered between these two schools ?

                    b) SST kids also receive diploma after 6 yrs ?

                      SST is 4 years only, and they take O levels.
