GabyEn:
Hi GabyEn,
Hi
Am not sure of their other programs @ BF (Brainfit), as my son is currently doing the SMART Listening, which is computer based. I believe most the programs are computer based. As a child progresses, he will move up different levels. As I understand, different computer programs will target different parts of the brain.
Cheers
What kinds of computer-based activities did your son do, care to share? Are they like Interactive Metronome ( http://www.interactivemetronome.com/IMPublic/Home.aspx ), Sound Therapy or Lumosity ( http://www.lumosity.com )? -
Hi GabyEn,
I sent my boy for assessment, and very tempted to sign up. However, my boy has a disorder and not too sure if the program will help.
How soon did you see a result in your boy? If I interpret correctly, it seems very short for your case, like you signed your boy up in Sep '10 and he showed great improvement in SA2 result. Was that a very intensive program he went through? Thanks for sharing. -
Hi Rayjay
Yup! Pretty intensive - 3X per week for 20 sessions.
BTW, there is going to be a talk by this speaker Dr Martha Burns on Brain Fitness & Learning In Special Needs kids. Its held at one of the Special Needs school If you are interested, do PM me.
Cheers -
Hi there Is Neuro Linguistic Programming or hypnotheraphy used in the sessions conducted by BrainFit? Also, do the kids have to continue with the sessions to see continued results? Has anyone’s kid stopped going to BrainFit but still reaps the benefits i.e. still doing well in school etc? It is important to know what happens after you stop going for the sessions. Thanks!

Hi, seems like most people have tried Brain Fit but not SBDC. Does anyone have anything to say regarding SBDC?

My kids are with Brainfit classroom (Kovan). Let me know if you need their names for referrer. They love going to brainfit for classes.

Very interesting… I want my DS to enrol in a good English program.
What’s the suitable age for my kid to join the Brainfit program? -
Any detailed website? Tks.

I have heard their strategy for English improvement and must say I am impressed. The use two neuroscientifically based programs to improve grammer, comprehension, phonetic awareness, etc. These game-like programs enable a child to answer 4 to 5 times more questions and listen to proper spoken English than any child normally would in a typical class setting.
Here is what I understand:
1) The program was developed by USA neuroscientists trying to unlock the obstacles that children have with the English language. There are studies that show improvements in Dyslexic and ADD children. Thus, the result is that the company is a listed company on the Nasdaq!
2) The program has been adopted by many schools in the States. But it costs alot. I found out it can be up to $3000 just for a 6m programme.
3) BrainFit Singapore is the only licensee allowed to distribute it.
4) There are currently 4 centres in Singapore and they incorporate MOE English syllabus. The latest one is run by a former MOE Teacher in a Hokkien Huey Kuan School at Bedok Reservoir.
5) They also work on the memory and focusing skills by using trampolines, etc.
I am thinking of enrolling my son as he seems to have difficulties stringing words and picking up new vocabulary. He is P1 now. BUT!
The cost of the programme is not the cheapest. Thus, anyone out there have tried it yet??
