Check your singtel bill!

Thanks for sharing. Sometimes, I do wonder how many people out there hv no idea that they are being charge for items that they hv no idea about.......
Whenever I encounter such incidents, I do get agressive and demand that they withdrew whatever charges and once I had even demanded for free services in compensation. That was an extreme case whereby they sent me a reminder, terminate the service despite that I had actually paid the fees not once but twice on their insistance. For whatever reasons their system didn't show the payments and I was away for a week. Since I was on contract and I couldn't terminate them, I got agressive, bang tables and got free service for 2 months.

Good deal!

Good for you Funguy.. I did that once (minus the bang table, on phone, no use to bang table.)

My sis recently scrutinised the bill for dad and we realised he had also been charged for services he didn’t need and didn’t subscribe in the 1st place. She has contacted the telco to waive the charges; not sure about banging table though. Hope she did.
For the new ezlink card, giro service will be charged 25c per transaction. That’s just as ridiculous. -
Someone should start a blog or website listing all those essential or standard servivce that has hidden cost. this should give those service providers some pressure to avoid doing such act.

Tks for this reminder, Mathsparks. Think I’m gonna cancel my contract with them… :x :x

Most welcome! I cancelled my girl’s contract when it expired but hubby signed her up with singtel again as he wanted to replace his mobile. :x

From my point of view… if one dun have the needs for the VAS… cancel it immediately on the day of subscription… no point getting it just becos its free…
i did just tat for all my 3 subscriptions…
Its a smart business move to "con" money legally on the part of the telco, but subscriber also has responsibility over their own decision making…
tats why the contracts are signed with those who are >21yo…

Heheh... can't get away from the big red one, eh? Anyway, in my opinion, our 3 telcos are pretty much all the same in terms of performance and coverage and local plans. The difference comes in when it comes to roaming with other countries. -

I wasn't referring to those free first 6 mths services. From my point of view.... if one dun have the needs for the VAS.... cancel it immediately on the day of subscription..... no point getting it just becos its free.......
I was talking about those services where they sent you an sms and you're supposed to unsubscribe if you don't want the service. Girl didn't read the lengthy sms thoroughly, thot it was just some kind of promotions and didn't unsubscribe. Can't expect my dad to do that either.
Hence my post was to warn ppl of such services (offered thru' sms) where you'll be billed if you didn't unsubscribe.
There are many elderly, children and busy folks out there paying $2 per month for services they didn't subscribe. Work that out and you know how exploitative and profitable the telco is.
It would be better to channel these to charity. So ridiculous!
