Hi EatNonStop, I finally tried it last night. It's really very easy to cook. My DH & DS love it! Now we can save money & eat at home whenever we have craving for it. Thank you so much!

        :thankyou:
I took photo of the food but don't know how to upload yet. I will figure it out & upload later.

        Hi FlowerMonaster

        My simple version

        Ingredients
        Abt 300 grams of spaghetti
~5 cloves of garlic finely minced...Have more if you prefer more
3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
1 - 2 teaspoon of dried chilli flakes
Pinch of salt and ground black pepper
Afew slices ham (Abt 100g), diced or julienned or any topping of your choice
A pot of water with salt added (for blanching pasta noodles)

        1) Boil a pot of water, add salt. When boiled, place pasta and cook per packet instruction (depends on type of pasta used), or until al-dente. Remove from pot and drain well. Mix pasta noodles with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, coat well to moist the strains while reserving for later.

        2) Heat large sauce pan/ wok with 3 tablespoons of olive oil over low-medium fire. Add in minced garlic and sauté till fragrant will do. No browning is required.

        3) Place ham slices into the frying pan, stir-fry for seconds then add in blanched pasta into frying pan and add in chilli flakes, salt and ground black pepper, stir-fry to combine well. Toss the noodles during stir-frying process, to avoid over-cooking.

              Hi MintyMint,

The tomato soup is actually pretty easy. I like to use very ripe red tomatoes that are still on the vine. To get rid of the skin, I score the skin and dump the tomatoes into a pot of boiling water. The skin will curl up where you scored it and you can easily just peel it off.

Chop the tomatoes up, and put aside. Chop up finely, a large white onion and some garlic. Heat up some olive oil and saute the garlic and onions until the onions are soft/translucent. Dump in the tomatoes and simmer until they dissolve. Add some chopped basil leaves, crushed black pepper and salt to taste.

Depending on the tomatoes and your taste preference, you may want to add a bit of sugar if it is too sourish. Also depending on how ripe the tomatoes are, sometimes, the soup may not be very smooth. If you want very smooth soup, then you may have to blend it before serving. At times I may end up adding some stock as the tomatoes are not that juicy.

My kids will not go near any tomatoes at all but they slurp up this soup happily.

As for the popsicles, normally I tend to use fresh fruits. But for these passionfruit popsicle here, I was using some leftover puree that I got from phoon huat for another dish.

Hi Funz, thanks for the detailed recipe…

Pardon me, by putting the scored tomatoes into the boiling water, is only for the purpose of having the ease of removing the tomatoes’ skin right? so we dun nid the skin for cooking the soup?

As for basil leaves, i saw in NTUC finest there’s quite a range of basil leaves, i remembered one tatz ‘lemon basil’… is there one tat is juz ‘Basil’?

Yah, putting the scored tomatoes in boiling water is just to remove the skin. You can choose to cook the soup with the skin on but then you will get chunky tomato soup as the skin will not 'dissolve' no matter how long you boil the tomatoes.

You can get the dried basil leaves from the spice rack at the supermarts. I use to get the brand Masterfood or Mc Cormick. I normally see fresh sweet basil or thai basil but so far, have not seen any lemon basil.

Of course fresh ones will still be better but sometimes cannot find any fresh basil in supermarts so these dried herbs are pretty handy.

I have a couple of basil plants growing in my garden so I just snip off what I need. If buying, I will normally go for sweet basil. Think you can find it more easily in cold storage then in NTUC.
