          just a share: 😃

Elias Park Primary School have places only for children who have registered in the schools and are living within 1 km and between 1 km and 2 km of the schools. Therefore children living outside 2 km of the schools are unsuccessful in their registration. No balloting will be conducted in these schools.

My kid going to P1 in 2013. I am considering these 2 schools: Pasir Ris Primary and Temasek Primary. Can anyone advise which is a better school?

Hi, we are registering for Phase 3 tomorrow and Pasir Ris is one of the areas we are looking at. It looks like these are the schools which still have vacancies, and what we know of them so far:

              1. Coral Primary - haven't been able to find much info
              2. Loyang Primary - P has impressive credentials
              3. Meridian Primary - some concerns over the previous P but otherwise now seems to be fine
              4. Park View Primary - haven't been able to find much info

Any further light anyone can shed on these schools would be very much appreciated!! :xedfingers:

Hi, my DS is in P5 Coral Primary (This is his 2nd year as we just reside to Spore last year). The school is not too popular compare to the other neighborhood school BUT for me, I could see that they have some dedicated teachers who really monitor on the students well. Especially after last year one of the P6 girl rank among the Top Student in Singapore and got into RGS. They don't want to lose the momentum and push the students real hard this year 😓

Hi peterch, belated thanks for this info. In the end, on the day of Phase 3 we decided to take our chance with Queenstown Primary and managed to secure a place there. Hope your DS isn't pushed too hard!!

                        Hi everyone,

I applied for Elias Park when we were about to move in to Pasir Ris. But they turned us down, cus we have not collected our keys yet.

I was quite disappointed, as it's the closest school to our block.

So, I went for the 2nd closest school: Park View Pri.

Frankly, I wasnt too satisfied with the school for several reasons, however my son settled down happily there at P1, & P2 & consistently did well (except for Chinese).

Since Chinese is like a \"foreign language\" to him, he was transfered to a different Chinese class for mother tongue subject (with other students who are weaker in this subject).

On our part, we sent him to Berries for Chinese enrichment classes, & he improved. (He boasted that he was best in Chinese in that class, which is really nothing to be proud of, as that class is made up of mostly non-Chinese students, *grin*) But apparently, this is the kind of motivation that my son needed, else he feels inferior.

At the end of P2 (2011), with his first exams, he happily told me that he'll be moving in to the best class (P3E) for P3 (2012).

I was still waiting for his final exam results back then, so that I can immediately apply for a transfer (probably Elias Park, mainly for the distance, & slightly better reputation amongst parents).

But, his being moved to the \"best\" class for P3 really boosted his confidence. And he refused to be transfered to a \"better\" school, partly for this reason, & 2ndly because he has made many friends over the years.

This \"best\" class, is made up of the top 5 students from each class of the previous P2 cohort.

So, I know that he's amongst the more academically inclined/motivated students in the school (who probably have parents that are equally involved in the upbringing & academic well being of the students).

His form teacher for this year is also the main discipline mistress of the school (which he's a little nervous about) hehe...

My conclusion is: I'll let him continue at PVPS till P6, & hopefully he can consistently be motivated to do well. And, based on his PSLE results (at that time), let him choose & work for a more reputable secondary school, as I firmly believe that it's really important from that stage onwards.

Hope this piece of info helps 😄
