I am also looking for a good dentist for my kids. I may want to get my 8 year old braces. Any recommendations?

My kids and I go to a dentist near our house that is not too bad but for serious work

that needs more 'specialist' help, we go to Smile clinique at Novena.

Another dentist that is highly recommended by a friend is Smile Focus
        at Camden Medical Centre.

Both are Smiles something..maybe there is something about that name 🤷

I'm not too sure if 8yo is too early for braces. Not all the permanent teeth is out yet and the child's mouth/jaw is still growing and developing. May be a little too soon. A better time is usually after 12 yo (or if u can wait, after PSLE).

It's also better to do it if the child is slightly older and more able to take pain and discomfort.

The best is to get assessed by the orthodontist. Some kids have very serious problems and need to get treatment much earlier.

Brought DD for her first dental check-up. didn't expect her to like the experience, but she did! Very glad that her first dental experience was a good one. 🙂

                Dear All,

                Need some recommendations
My 31 month old ds, fell & hurt his 2 front teeth. Been to the GP then who said nothing could be done since the teeth didnt fall out but to continue monitoring for 1 month. Now, 1 mo later, the 2 teeth and the gum area have turned greyish to my dismay. And DS complained of pain still!

Appreciate any recommendation for a good dentist experienced with kids ( i.e. sweet, patience etc). This happen so to be DS 1st dental visit as well, makes me more worried that he will out up strong resistance.... What should I do? 😞

Many thanks in advance for any advice

                Cheers,
                Joyce

Hi Joyce, you can google for paediatric dentist. I believe all are patient and nice to kids since they specialised in kids dental problem and have lots of experience handling kids. If the area turned grey, it sounds kinda serious, better bring him for consultation asap.

                    Dear CMF

I refer to your post on 8 Feb 2011 about the dental trainer which your DD wore. Can you please PM me the name/ contact of your DD’s dentist. My 7 year old gal has problem with her teeth alignment but she is too young for braces .

                    Thanks lots !

Oh yes, but my 8 year old has some of her front of adult teeth out and they are protruding. It makes her very conscious. Any suggestions what we can do or just ask her to bear with it? I feel heart pain when she comes back telling me she was made fun of in school again because of her teeth.
