On the contrary, although there might be a chance TT could act differently when he becomes president (like OTC), but to me, it is a risk I'd not take. It is like being boiled slowly to death without even realizing (many things go on undisclosed) - no offence to TT supporters.
Peace and good luck! I can live with any of these 4 being elected, though TJS poses for me, the most risk.
More so, I'd say each candidate have their own weaknesses and strengths - who we choose is going to have significance in the next 6 years (presidential 'contract' is 6 years, not 5). If it takes much more resources to achieve results, perhaps, changing the \"factors\" will help shed some light on new possibilities. JMHO. -
By selecting more oppositions into Parliament, the 'battle' has already begun.
For those who hasn't already been following on these (being updated on the changes), choosing to ignore 'politics', thinking they are a waste of time or not worthy of one's concern, then it is too bad, for, all who are concerned enough to find out more will be the ones deciding their future. IMHO, to have a stand is better than not having any. And to vote based on who is more familiar-looking is to discredit the role of the President (not pointing to anyone in particular, but seeing there are people like that around).
By selecting more oppositions into Parliament, it is a signal that more people are prepared for change. And these changes will not go on quietly. It will be an on-going process, as significant as that we witnessed in the recent MND, PA, WP saga. This is just the beginning. To see such incidents as a disruption to our usual PEACE and quiet is to think that changes can go on without any form of confrontations (and perhaps some disruptions?)
Singaporeans are generally Peace lovers (including myself). There are times when tongues lash, but I am glad it is only tongues, and results can be achieved. I do not believe that our situation will resemble that of Taiwan, although we must always, and continue to administer self-control. We should, like an informed panel of judges, see and weigh for ourselves, looking for all evidence presented to us before deciding where to stand. JMHO -
I have 'tan' 'tan' 'tan' for a while and still undecided.... so I decided to checkout Mr Brown for a sign...and this is really funny...

Presidential candidate Dr Tony Tan and his wife arrived at Nanyang Girls' High School at about 10.45am to vote, but left the premises without speaking to reporters.
All other 3 spoke to the reporters except him.

I notice he appears media-avoiding in this election, maybe he gets more attention this way?http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1149463/1/.html

I agree we need opposing voices in parliament to add the element of giving a different perspective to issues/policies that the ruling govt is contemplating. However I hope not to see a parliament that is equally divided (i.e. Ruling party and opposition party)... There are many instances in other countries where powers change hands like changing underwear ... Ok I am exaggerating, but you know what I mean... Just to cite the example of Thailand, I love Thailand/Bangkok but do you think the country has benefitted from the constant power shifts in the past decade?By selecting more oppositions into Parliament, the 'battle' has already begun.

What is the right balance (between ruling party and opp party) I do not know... But I only know that my wish is for enough opposing views to keep the ruling govt on their toes and in the right direction but not to the extent where it becomes an equal powerhouse. I was \"quietly\" glad that there are more opposing voices in the current parliament, perhaps there could be more in future I am not sure. Guess this depends very much on what the ruling govt does in the next 5 years.
Think I :offtopic: in the PE thread liao... :siam: -

I voted liao.
The question of this poll is who do you think will be and not should be, right?
So my bet is TT.
