Sigh  , whilst I would refrain from name calling, I share your frustration. I really hope those who spoilt the votes deliberately would reflect on their privilege of participating in a democratic process.
Spoil Votes 37826 (bunch of brainless people)
The weaknesses in the electoral process for the presidency are apparent for all to see. An elected President with 35.1% of the popular vote? A sliver of a margin over the next candidate? The 3rd place candidate garnering a quarter of all votes?
The g'ment can call for unity all it wants, it would be completely illusory in this circumstance and merely magnify the sense of injustice and dis-enfranchisement.
There needs to be a run-off between the top 2 candidates, first past the post does not work and places a lot of pressure on the PEC. -

I went to bed at 1.30am after hearing the recount and TT has slight lead.... Couldn't bring myself to watch anymore. Woke up feeling sore about the marginal loss..... I would be happier if it was TCB especially after watching his stance on NMP on CNA. Ltk is clapping in the background.Agree. Woke up to hear results and saw new prez giving speech. He won by 7269 votes. every vote counts.
tcb ran a good race, but it was such a near miss.
Well we all have to move on and in a Singapore way, support whoever is nominated. Hubby consolation was he went to the same pri and sec school as TT. Which probably explains his CL standard. -
indeed very disappointed…but we need to move on. in fact i am more disappointed with those 40k of spoilt votes. they are given a chance , a right to choose and make changes, but they just cant be bother.

"Now that it’s over, we should all unite. Put aside our political affiliations. The presidency is above politics and we should all build (a) better Singapore for everyone."
"Through the outreach that I have done, through platforms, I hope to unify Singaporeans because at the end of the day, Singapore is our home. We share a common destiny and I think all of us work together for the benefit of our country," he said. -

I was expecting to see high number of invalid votes, but din't think it was going to be THAT MANY. Think I should champion next round the importance of making valid votes more actively... -
Stayed all night to watch the results unfold. Heart getting heavier as the results become clearer that TCB is going to lose by just small margin. Start to wonder about the ""what ifs" like if there was a straight fight between TT and TCB? How different the result will it be?
Whatever it is, we have to accept the result and move on. Let’s hope TT does consider the unhappiness of the majority of Singaporeans. He has to say the right things and analyze why so many did not vote for him despite his so many "endorsements". Please win the hearts of the people from now on. In a sense, you have to continue your election campaign for 6 years to convince me that you deserve my respect as Singapore’s Head of State. All the best to you and do the best for the interest of all Singaporeans. -
As I have stated in the other thread, Dr Tony Tan must be mindful that the majority did not vote for him. He must act for these 6 years to deserve my respect. We have to move on and provide him a chance to be our Head of State. Best wishes to Singapore.

We have changed the soup, but not the ingredient. United as one, I find the soup difficult to swallow.
