Hi Mummies,

I bought this title 'Writing Practice' 习字本 by EPB...for P1/2..at the recommendation of a mummy. :lovesite:
It's really a great way to teach kids 听写 and some simple 词语 to teach lower primary kids...for eg 中午.

Mummy Janet,
you referring to this one that I posted on 05 May 2011?

champion posted 1st on the book here 🙂 indeed its a great book to practise handwriting.
For a girl, my daughter's handwriting isn't that nice 😢
But I am spared the trouble of writing all the characters to be tested on rough paper. All the characters to be tested are printed...already bought for P2

Hi Mummies,

Without CA/SA for P1-2 now, schools set their own formats for those bite-sized summative tests now. These are some of the components tested:
1) Selecting the correct word 辨字测验
2) Vocabulary matching
3) Filling in the Chinese character (填写汉字)
4) Rearranging sentences (组词成句)
5) Complete the sentences (完成句子)
6) Cloze Passage (短文填空)
7) Write sentences based on picture
(8) Reading comprehension (阅读理解)

It’s not possible to expect all the above to be found in 1 or 2 assessment books. So if you’re looking to get CL assessment books, I think the above may be tested…maybe not at Term 1 or 2 but prob Term 3 or 4.

Hi Brenda,

The components mentioned below will be tested next Wed. I am biting my nails too :frustrated: ...like I mentioned several times, this stupid  bite-sized summative tests are many many times worse than having a CA/SA.

Basically everything above is tough.

Hello!Mother777!
For Lower Primary, if you want to start off for picture composition, there is this book that I just came across in the Learners Publishing webpage. They have sample pages for viewing perhaps you like to check it out 😄

Hi Champion,

Thanks for uploading the pic of that CL compo book…was thinking how I can improve my daughter’s 看图造句 as her teacher said she needs to brush up in that area as well as those commonly used words. She is confused with characters like 爸,把,巴…these 3 share the same hanyu pinyin ‘ba’.

OK, may I share my opinion? Feel that the following is quite good especially the content is not too heavy 😄

Hi Champion,

Thank you so much for your advise.

My daughter is at present using Casco book: Chinese model compositions P1. it contains some sample compositions and also excercises for her to try out.
https://www.popular.com.sg/jsp/product/product_detail.jsp?vca001=0&vpd001=92687

One of my friend also recommended me to buy Victoria publications book: Chinese essay writing guidebook (elementary level).

http://victoria.com.sg/index.php/2010-12-15-08-11-20/97

Are these books good and enough to teach kid about composition?
Do i still need to buy the learners composition book you advised?

I am so confused :scratchhead:
