I intend to teach ds creative writing myself, ahem. In both languages. There is just not enough time to do so many things, so qualified or not, I'm going to do it.

For your ds, it's what I call the moment-of-truth year - P5, the year most crucial in preparation to pass PSLE. Ideally P6 should be the year reserved to focus on any weak area. Hopefully there won't be too many of those around.

Sigh. . .I also bo bian. DH is more knowledgeable than me but he is unable to coach DS. Thus, I have to outsource for most. Now I cut down a lot of shopping, even window shopping also don't dare.

If I guess correctly, this teacher is a very good one. Has been teaching for years in PH.

The amount of homework from school will also increase by quite a fair bit.
Kids will strive harder because their peers are doing the same and teachers are also doing a lot of \"encouragement talk\".

So parents need to manage their pressure and give them a breather here and there.

This is my observation. Generally speaking, most Ts in schs esp. those SAP ones are pretty stern. They have to. It's their defence mechanism; cos in our society there are really kids whose behaviour borders on delinquency. Thankfully very few of these around, but it just takes one to disrupt the flow of teaching in a class.

Nowadays Ts' hands are tied when it comes to disciplinary issues. Some parents tend to over-react, every small issue also wants to complain personally to P & MOE. You just need to read some of the other threads to spot who they are. So if Ts don't look fierce, there'll be anarchy in the classrooms.

And usually in the first term of P1, the Ts will 'pun-chan' to give allowance for adaptation. Pls don't think that being strict is no good, cos it implies that other students will tend to behave better towards each other too.

Ok after talking so much, we come to the most impt pt. P1 to P2 is enbloc, think that applies to Ts as well. So your dd is quite safe lah, my ds also safe! :rahrah:

Personally I'm not that keen on DSA; I prefer to let ds depend on PSLE result. But now I'm hearing that PSLE maths exam is gravitating towards MO type of qn, which poses a big challenge for me in terms of time management (to send ds for MO training in addition to normal maths tuition). I can dig deeper into my pocket (anyway only one child to support) but I can't dig out more time.

The MO training is 1.5 hrs once a week only. Why no time? Cut down on computer games lah :evil:

If goes for MO training, then no need for normal Maths tuition anymore.

Maths Hub has a reward scheme- Do well in class practice, gets x no. of tokens which can be exchanged for a variety of small items. My P4 boy is very motivated by these tokens.
