How timely! I was just gonna get a bread making machine! I've heard how easy it is! Told the kids about the idea, and they went wild. Started giving me all sorts of crazy flavours that they'd like. I'm gonna begin with banana nut πŸ™‚ I wonder how long the bread will last though, would be such a waste if it went bad fast.

First of all, welcome to the Breadmachine Club. Homemade breads do not last long because the main ingredient is 100% LOVE and not preservatives that you find in store-bought bread. That's the difference. :celebrate:

        Hi all

I have recently bought a Takada breadmaker from Carrefour for S$128 and they even give you a free mixer.

So far so good based on 10 loafs that I have baked.

Kind of bored while waiting for the PE results so I tried to bake a garlic bread with a slight twist. What I did was to try in the garlic and ham bits into the dough and bake it together.

I fried the garlic (still yellow in colour) with a bit of sugar before putting into the dough.

For people who love garlic, the smell is heavenly. For people who hate garlic, do not try this at home as the whole house smell of garlic for the next few hours.

              Still baking

End product. Too sleepy to wait for it to cool down and slice it.

Hi, thought I should put in my 2 cents worth. Been baking bread every day except Sunday using breadmaker for many years now. Noticed that when I put in more sugar, the bread rises higher to the top. In fact, sugar affects the rise more than yeast. You can put in more sugar and cut down on the yeast. Works for me.

I use slightly less than 2 tablespoon of sugar. You just need to vary a bit say by 20% to see the effect on the rise of the bread. The change in sweetness is not as obvious as the rise.

Its not that. My point is that sugar has a greater effect on the rise than yeast. Some of you may have been trying to get the bread to rise a bit more by putting in more yeast without much success. Try adding a bit more sugar instead of yeast.
