The outcome was almost expected (the margin wasn’t !! ).

I am not bothered because I think many of us disgree on what the office of the President is about and should be.

But this is a starting point.

Tony Tan won. But with his paper-thin margin, I hope the ruling party gets the message and expedite their promised "transformation".

        ksi:
If I see election as a game, my afterthoughts are the campaigning candidates are simply not \"smart\" enough to outsmart Ah Gong and collectively, we people are also not able to outsmart Ah Gong's thought process....the strategic thinking power is immaculate.

I take comfort that if this is applied in working for the country in times of difficulties with external parties, then we are in VERY good hands. *Bravo* If not, it may just be misconstrued as something negative. I choose to see it as the former and I am happy to put my hands together to clap for the new President. *All Hail the new President*!!!! It was a good calculated win! *clap clap* Now is delivery of promise time.
My thots too but with a caveat.
Ah Gong is not in full control of external parties,
but is with all instruments of state in SG.

Why I said TT first order of business as d President is to initiate

an independent commission of inquiry into d PT affair n resolve it
once n for all with honesty, transparancy n full accountability.

          The SAF pledge

We, Members of the Singapore Armed Forces,
do solemnly and sincerely pledge that:

We will always bear true faith and allegiance to the
          President
          and the Republic of Singapore.

We will always support and defend the
          Constitution.

We will preserve and protect the honour and independence
of our country with our lives.
          -----------------------------------------------------------

All NS men, on enlistment, makes this pledge
with their right hand on their heart in front of d
          standing President's photo.
How many men n women can now pledge with all
their hearts, without reservations, to lay down their lives
for a President n country when d PT affair is not properly n fully resolved?

:hi5: Agree....so I am expecting they know how to set the rules of the games so well with external parties. My expectation is raised. :celebrate:

I sort of pity TKL, look at his lousy face today.................bye bye $$$$$$$$$

yah i feel a bit sorry for him... he should have cut his losses and not confirmed that he was standing.

but listening to his telecast... wah really cannot vote for him to be president.

i think TCB also lost a lot of money, maybe more! Heard that it cost him $110,000 just to send his collateral to every household in sgp.

                  Chenonceau:
                  JonC:

                  Tracked, who cares!

As the MIW always say \"this is a global world\", if cannot stay, move overseas then.

The people is the master, the MIW is the servants (LHL say that MP is to serve people before the election, remember), since when things start to turn the other way round.

A good government / management should not track but should listen and reflect if it's true, else will be out of touch and finally ship out.

From my own experience, this is exactly what the PAP did with me. Does that make it a good government then? :imanangel:

In any case, Chenonceau, how did you feel when you got 'tracked down' har? Just curious - did they ask you whether you got 'personal agenda'? 😉

Even if did not do what they promise, citizens also cannot do anything but wait until next voting. 🤷

Why no strong party tell citizens who to vote for, to get unity on who to vote :? Too late now...
