      Hi,

My dd tends to make sentence structure errors in her English writing. Somehow she likes to string long sentences into one and her teacher said that its really a common mistake make by students.

Do any of you encounter such problems with your kids too? I mean is there really a set of ‘common mistakes’ that students will make?

a lot of my older students also make the same mistake. Some even do that in writing books in their adult hood ! If you have read some academic texts. One way to help would be to get them to read it again and see if they understand it them selves.

hi morse! yes, i agree this seems a common error.. its either shorten the sentences or sort out the mistakes/grammatical errors once n for all  for my son i didn't want him to just shorten sentences, i wanted to make sure he gets the mistakes/structure corrected! 🙂

It is not advisable to string long sentences together. Usually, there will be numerous structure errors and grammatical errors if your child does so. Unless your child is an expert in English, then that would be an exceptional.
