hello JR ... windows ... i took my son on a trip to siem reap since he is interested in the ancient civilisations and had learnt so much about it from his teacher who gave him some reading mateirals on it. ... also saw few families with young kids but i think this is not a place for too young children .. maybe more for 12 and up age range. we had a good time

my kids tried similar class with emphasis on drama and expresssing themselves but found that even though they do enjoy but it does not show in grades as difficulty level is not there.. also tried chinese program that is drama and interaction base as my kids chinese is very poor so i wanted to encourage them to speak more. i pull them out of these class and then do one-to-one as more focussed and easier for them to communicate as they wont feel pressure from frens, especially when they are higher levels and need more challenge. just need to get the right tutor who can motivates and click. i found good tutors a few years ago and stick with them. so far kids are excelling better and enjoy the class as the way of teaching is different and helpful ... example for english the tutor emphasise stories and expression, interaction that is challenging and they enjoy it.. in maths also tutor can have more higher level sums to suit to the child as no need to hold back by class. in my boy psle he manage to get quite good score, A and 2 A* but sadly chinese pull him down ... only manage a C i think his interest is not there for chinese too... my opinion is that one-to-one is better as no distraction from frens.

Hmm... maybe trip to west coast park? can fly kites there, my kids were very excited and even made their own kites! the army museum that is near the discovery centre also very interesting... can go and row boats in the pond we live in the west so all my ideas also in the west!!! :lol:

hi morse! yes, i agree this seems a common error.. its either shorten the sentences or sort out the mistakes/grammatical errors once n for all :lol: for my son i didn't want him to just shorten sentences, i wanted to make sure he gets the mistakes/structure corrected!

seems like they are selling mooncake early this year! who can recomm good and cheap place for mooncake? thinking of giving as gifts.

nowadays everyone looks for holistic education with well-rounded interest.. there was a stage where everyone learn piano, then with vanessa mae, everyone learn violin. but i find if the child's interest is not there, they will not progress a lot.


i find now parents also start their kids on \"new\" interests like saxaphone... chiense instruments... drums...

i want to know can these be useful in Direct admission for secondary school also.. i am trying to start my son on drums as he express interest in a few of these instruments awhile ago. can paretns who try this route please help!! how should i go about applying to secondary schools using this? and what qualifications must he have to qualify for direct admit?/ :?: :?: :?:

I realise kiasuparents love acronyms! but when i first join i was very confuse! not because i can't figure out the meanings but because some of them have double meaning for me!

:? for e.g.. DS for you guys mean dear son, but being a parents who is familial with special needs, DS for me means down syndrome!

And also DSA might mean direct school admission but i instinctively think it means down syndrome associaton! hahaha.. i for awhile thought i chance on a whole community of parents with special need kids! :shock:

also read somewhere that if your child is bilingual before the age of 5 he will b more likely to stammer :shock: i suppose all children develop differently, i personally feel that there is no need to stress them or push them too much befor they start formal school

Wow, i think it is great to expose your kids to dialects! my boy doesn't speak any dialect, but i have friends whose kids are very fluent. it's very good, after all, develops their language and of course we dont' want our dialects to be extinct!! :celebrate:
