After 8 months, I am still trying to get cope with daughter in P1 :imdrowning: Almost like being in P1 myself.

The new system of not having CA/SA is killing me for sure, on top of that, her EL/CL is not easy either. I am waving the white flag where her compo writing is concerned...just signed her up for creative writing class starting next Sat. It's at Thinking Cove. Hope she will be able to catch up by end of the year (summative test in Oct).

With both kids attending enrichment now, I would rather stay at home than do any window shopping. See-cannot-buy 😢 is more painful.

This is what irks me about the school system... if the school has a proper system in place so that teachers can effectively guide and teach the young children to write well, we parents need not be unduly stressed!

I cannot understand why parents have to spend money on creative writing classes  Since school is compulsory, teach the kids everything they should know. I'm up to my neck teaching my gal grammar, vocab, comprehension, cloze...cannot do anymore. I've gone crazy :siao:

                Janet,

i know you’re stressed. You’re a great, dedicated and wonderful mom. You’ve given your all to your 2 kids. But pls take care of your health, dear. Do go for spa to relax, if can. Let them massage you. Today is public holiday. Ask your husb take care of the kids. You go, relax and enjoy yourself.

My son's FT, who teaches Eng and Maths, was out of action frequently this year, usually on medical leave. So, his class had very few chances to write compositions since the relief teachers don't cover this. No teacher to teach writing... You can imagine the standard, or rather, the lack of standard!
So...most of the parents have to resort to writing classes lor

It’s very strange. I was speaking with another parent who has kids in upper pri abt show and tell. She told me parents need to help their kids. I asked won’t the teaher guide them on the technique/skills needed before the actual show and tell like role play? She said there are so many kids, how to invovle all? In my mind I was imagining the teacher would vet through each child’s selection, then have rehearsals before the actual show and tell with the grading. I guess I was wrong.

shdnt this be the way.... then at least the child wld know where he/she hv gone wrong...

i mean yes parents do play a part but the teahers shd be involved too right?
