Need help with this question on connectors:

It is _____ his fault _____ yours that the accident took place.

      It is a MCQ with
      (1) so... that
      (2) neither... nor
      (3) not only... but also
      (4) whether... or
as choices. May I know which is the correct answer and why. Thank you.
I should have thought both (2) and (3) are correct. Both make sense, and both conform to the parallelism rule that the same or equivalent grammatical form should follow paired connectors.

        Thanks ridcully for the response.

When going through this question with dd, I told her the answer should be (2) but the answer from the assessment book was (3). If such question is being set in school, will the teacher accept both answers since there’s no way in the sentence that will imply either one is the better answer.

One would hope that the teacher would accept either answer rather than just look at the set answer from an answer sheet.

My dd very lazy and bochap (ahem....just like her mother here), hence MCQ questions assessment books are her favourite, don't need to read and write so much. When I give her assessment books in test paper format, most of the time, it will be half done with OE comprehension totally undone. :frustrated:

                      Barney! :hi5:
My DD1 also has the \"same habit\"! - OE Compre is always \"clean & tidy\" with no pencil marks! :rotflmao:

                        Hi

Can anyone please advise as to whther Raffles Girls School test papers are challenging.

DS1 starts his UK Year 4 (same as Singapore P3) next week. He attempted the Raffle P3 English Paper 2007 and attained 18/20 for vocab/grammar and 5/8 for his grammar cloze http://www.misskoh.info/07primary3.html).

FYI, he fell back on connectives - and this is a big weakness for him.

                        1. Are there any good resources to understand connectives. We find the First Aid in English to difficult to follow.

                        2. Am I right assuming Nanyang would be the more challenging papers to try.
