I don't think they'd be penalized because both spellings are correct. \"Realised\" is more commonly used in British English and \"realized\" is usually regarded as American English. I think your DD's teacher just wanted to ensure that she learns Brit spelling consistently.


You can Google \"British and American spelling\" to get a list of words and how they're spelt differently in Britain and America.

Advice and Advise are not the same.


Advice is the noun - eg - His advice was that I should study hard.
Advise is the verb - eg - He advised me to study hard.

Hey Mummies,

Guess we better start speaking/using American English to kids…in today’s ST, LKY said ‘American English likely to prevail’. Personally, I find American English easier to adopt than British English. Not the slang though.

Still trying to teach daughter difference between stationery and stationary, practise and practice (same as advice/advise).
