Excuse Me Can I take these seats?
-
Usually practise this in town/around office. most other times, I will have pp around and we try to group orders so there is a ‘live being’ at the table.
don’t have memories of not being able to find seat in heartlands leh. -
Mine happened in some coffeeshop that was famous for its western food.
I think only those working in town understand this practice. I didnt think the
uncle was being funny on purpose, I think he really did not think the tissue
paper was used to chop seats. -

wah piang this is too much leh... dunno who is the real Qia Char Boh here???I will normally ask if the seats are taken before plonking my butt there.
I guess we meet all sorts of people out there. I remember settling down with my kids at a table with our food while DH went to get drinks. A family took another uncleared table next to ours. They proceeded to put the bowls and all onto the trays left on that table and instead of bringing it to a cleaner's trolley, the mother dumped the tray on my table. :stompfeet: I was shocked at first but told her to remove it, she actually told me no one seating there what (the seat that DH was suppose to be sitting). I stared at her bugeyed for a moment. Then took the tray and put it back on her table. She shouted at me Oi!!!, I looked at her and told her no one sitting at the other 3 seats at her table what (cos her kids went to get their food). At that moment DH came back with our drinks. The lady went on and on rattling in hokkien calling me a qia char boh, but dared not put the tray of dirty stuff on our table anymore. DH snickered, and said aunty, you haven't seen really qia from her yet. She hummpph at DH and shut up. haha.

I've always found this practice of choping seats via tissue packs odd. I've been tempted many a time to pocket the tissue pack and plonk myself on the seat. What would happen if I did you think?
I have actually seen tourists do that several times... N they give each other funny looks :skeptical: when later confronted by the tissue owners

a few times, some idiots just put their trays on our table. :siao:
i will ask loudly of my kids who left them there and tell these idiots to move them away. if they dont, sorry, i have learnt not to be so soft spoken anymore and will say loudly \"no manners, 没家教“。
