LKVM:
I feel teacher's day is not just giving gifts it just telling teacher that they are loved and they are remembered... Teaching is very stressful job and we should really give kudos to all the teachers who take pains to teach our kids.....if they werent around I am sure we wont be what we are!!! :salute:
agreed.. :hi5:
but its js that we felt bad abt forgetting their \" appreciation day \" so its really at the last min sort of impulse...
and moreover, DS is in his last yr at this CC whom he was with since 3 yo. there are defintely some sentimental values/feelings, even for us as parents... we nvr got any gifts for them (the teachers/principal) since DS was in N1... -
About the red pens and markers, from what I know, my school or friends' schools, usually the school provides the transparency pens, white board markers, transparencies...
They don't provide red pens lei... We always bought our own, and yes, need many many of them in a year!
As for white board markers, the school will only provide red, black and blue.
But nowadays, many teachers use visualizer or smart board. So less and less teachers will go to General Office to claim the transparency pens or markers.

pinky, so that means I should look for other colours if I want to continue giving white board markers? hee hee hee
Good idea. I use coloured markers while teaching maths cos I find it easy for the children to see the difference. I have a pencil case full of markers and the other teachers know who to borrow from when they ran out of markers.

As a teacher, the greatest gift is seeing the students doing well.
HAPPY TEACHERS’ DAY TO ALL EDUCATORS -
LKVM:
beats me leh.... but my DS said the teacher asked them to give any kind of seads or gloveshquek:
In my DS's class teacher didnt like if someone give her red pen

har? she buy shares so pantang? then what colour does she use to mark?
As parent, I would want to show my appreciation to teacher. It's really quite tough wracking my brains what to get. i'm so veering on 'diam diam' and not do anything next time.
btw I can see lots of red mark in my son's book so............
maybe the teacher planning to change line and become gardener?

ST today featured an article on teachers' day in china and the gifts that they receive: designers' bags, ipad, iphone and even tour packages :yikes: The most popular is shopping voucher where the parents will slip a prepaid shopping card eg from Carrefour into the greeting card to the teacher and the going amount is about RMB500. Apparently only teachers teaching examinable subjects are lavish with these gifts and there is no law to prohibit teachers from receiving.
But what stands out from this article was about this student from a poor family who eventually gave some eggs and rice to the teacher because they could not afford expensive stuff. The student said their family took a long time to consider because the eggs are meant to be sold and they do not even have a chance to eat them. -
Dear all,
Need some advise from u… My gal juz started her nursery class… So since teacher day is coming… Do u give out presents to all the teachers or only teachers who teach her? What do u normally give?
Thanks -
It’s up to you! I usually buy cookies in nice boxes for the teachers who teach the kids. This year I am particularly pleased with my kid’s preschool and its principal so I will also be ordering a cake or batch of muffins for the staff and a special card to the principal, on top of individual gifts for the teachers that teach him.

Just remember don’t give Mont Blanc pen, tailor-made shirts and iPod Touch.
