Dear Jennifer and Phankao, thank you for your sharing.
I am okay with my DD using the washing machine but I am not sure if she has the time to do her laundry and iron her school uniforms! At the school tour, the house master also say that the students spend most of the time studying that they donβt have much time for other things.
Are the students required to clean the rooms like mopping the floor? -
Celestsweety:
Yes, they have to clean the rooms. For simplicity....instead of going to the common area to get the mop/pail, I just have them bring the foldable \"broom\" that you put floor cleaner wipes on. But I buy the cheaper brand (school floor!!!!!!). Then I buy more packs for them to do quick cleanup of their tables/chairs, etc, as well. Including glass-cleaner wipes. HAHA. They don't use a lot I think bc always have \"spare\" coming back.Dear Jennifer and Phankao, thank you for your sharing.

\"students spend most of the time studying that they don't have much time for other things\" not very true lah. All boils down to time mgt.Dear Jennifer and Phankao, thank you for your sharing.

There is regular inspection of the rooms. We recently recd a report on last year JH1 boarding- general cleanliness/ cooperation between boarders/ etc grading.
My boy usu. checkin ard 8pm on Sun, do a quick cleanup of the room, laid the mattress cover/pillow/bolster cases. Then unpack whatever he brings back to boarding. After which goes to the dinning hall for roll call.
All the best. -
17 pcs of laundry per week β¦ be careful - my DD was given back the wrong towel, shorts etc and could not find them ever again β¦

This yr (2011) there r, as far as i know, 199 JH1 pupils.

On the check-in day, you will be given a laundry slip with a code number (already assigned to your room & bed). Write this code number on your clothing with a good pen (so that the ink can tolerate washings n not fade after wash, then the clothing can still be identified to be yours and return to you at the end).
My boy wrote his on the clothing label.
Enjoy the experience. -
Would like to enquire abt the ffg.
1. At the end of JH1, only math, LA and MT are banded. Is it right ?.
2. Is the end of year banding(JH1) for math is final or do they band next year also?.
3. What is the percentage of marks for term1,2,3 and 4 be used for calculation ?.
TIA. -

2. Students will be sorted into the different classes according to their maths results at the end of the year.
3. There is no percentage; There are different modules and credits for each subject. It's actually quite complicated, even I'm not sure how to explain. But ALL the graded work done will be calculated into the GPA.
I'm JH1 this year... this is what I know.
Hope it was of some help.
